sten guy
I was shooting my '28AC the other day with the drum for the first time. I wound the drum to 10 clicks and it ran flawless. The second drum full , I was winding and was interupted by my friend. So I lost exact count. I wound the drum to what I thought was 10 clicks and on the last click it made a loud POP. So now the drum will feed 4 -5 rds and doesn't have enough sprinng pressure to lift another into position. Is this something simple that I might be able to fix myself.?? P.S. It was a New York drum.. http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/banghead.gif Thanks STEN
Sig
Sounds like the spring broke. It is not a simple matter to repari as it does not just slip or unbolt to get to. There are a few guys that work on these. The repair takes the remaining sprng end and reinstalls. Merle Bitikofer comes to mind 1st.

gijive
Jim, Sig is correct. The winding spring apparently broke. I had a drum that had a broken spring and it did the same thing; it would only feed about four rounds. You'll have to send it out to have it fixed, I wouldn't advise trying it yourself. I would check with Merle, as the others have suggested.
