Oh Crap !

Recommended Posts

I was shooting my '28AC the other day with the drum for the first time. I wound the drum to 10 clicks and it ran flawless. The second drum full , I was winding and was interupted by my friend. So I lost exact count. I wound the drum to what I thought was 10 clicks and on the last click it made a loud POP.

So now the drum will feed 4 -5 rds and doesn't have enough sprinng pressure to lift another into position.

Is this something simple that I might be able to fix myself.??

P.S. It was a New York drum.. http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/banghead.gif

Thanks

Sounds like the spring broke.

It is not a simple matter to repari as it does not just slip or unbolt to get to.

There are a few guys that work on these. The repair takes the remaining sprng end and reinstalls.

Merle Bitikofer comes to mind 1st.

Jim,

Sig is correct. The winding spring apparently broke. I had a drum that had a broken spring and it did the same thing; it would only feed about four rounds. You'll have to send it out to have it fixed, I wouldn't advise trying it yourself.

I would check with Merle, as the others have suggested.

Big D,

Did you ever determine what rotor you had in your 3rd pattern Colt L drum when you sent it to Merle?

Nope looked thru all my pics.... must have deleted all the original pics.... http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/sad.gif
