  1. I just read my 2008 SAR Manville article again for the first time in probably 15 years. I have to say I’m still happy with what I wrote, and it served to refresh my memory on the subject. David
  2. I have seen a single serial number for a 12-gauge model. Serial number 1. Manville production records were destroyed, from what I researched. Here is an article I wrote on the subject. https://smallarmsreview.com/manville-law-enforcement-gas-guns/ David
  3. I had a chance to fully review a draft copy of this book, and I have to say it is a fantastic resource in a handy format. Another great job by Tom! David Albert
  4. Is that a known site? Has anyone done business with them? David
  5. I think that is pretty well stated, John. I just want to say that I don’t think Thompson prices have reduced; they just have not appreciated as quickly as some of their counterparts lately. It’s all a matter of perspective in time. A Colt Thompson I considered 15 years ago for $29K would be around $45K today. An AR conversion that was $12K 15 years ago is $25K today. Better rate of return on the AR conversion, but not really by much; about 3% vs. 5%, compounded annually. I do not recommend buying MG’s as investments, though looking back, they have turned out to be very solid investments over time. Buy them because you like them and want to own them. David
  6. My buddy did an e-file last Saturday. I joked that it would be approved by Tuesday. It was. He picked it up Tuesday afternoon. There is some speculation that ATF is trying to quickly lower the average wait time due to some pressure they received after a funding increase did not improve wait times. We’ll see if it lasts, but it proves that 2-day transfers are possible. David
  7. Not sure about the leather holster, but I've looked at the OWS M1950's, and have to say they are tempting. Looks like you got a nice one. David
  8. This appears to be posted in the wrong place, but yes, it is 100% possible. I could say 200% possible. I have 2 NIB unfired M96's, along with another that I shoot. David
  9. E-Form 4 to Individual. Submitted 2/10/24 Approved 2/28/24 18 days. David
  10. The members have been very helpful to me and much appreciated. What are your levels for benefactor so I can help support the board?
    Thanks,

    Chappy

We have 2 levels, which are Contributor, which is between $5 and $49.99, and Benefactor, which is $50 or more.  Contributions can be made through PayPal to dalbert@sturmgewehr.com.

      Thanks!

  11. Today is the first anniversary of the release of my Eugene Reising book. I have them available for $45 shipped in the continental U.S., if anyone is interested in a signed copy. Ohio residents must add their local sales tax. Thanks! David
  12. I have had a few of them over the years, and unfortunately I don't have one available at the moment. David
  13. I visited that hallway once about 20 years ago, and like you said, you can still see evidence of the shooting. I was taken by the marble, and it would certainly have caused ricochets. David
  14. Hi Mike, Right now I plan to keep the Pachmayr grips on it, but I may keep an eye out for a set of original grips. Unfortunately, I don't have a go to gunsmith for revolvers. I'm not sure how skilled the Colt service team may be today, so going to a local smith that has a good reputation may be the way to go. David Albert dalbert@sturmgewehr.com
