Sandman1957
Saw a nice Reising Model 65 today in a local store on the used gun rack. The asking price is $550. It looks nice has the original Redfield rear sight, walnut stock and is blued. Its in 80 percent condition. Has one mag no sling, but it does have the sling swivels. Any idea if this is a fair price? Thanks in advanceSandman1957 (no photos available)
johnsonlmg41
seems high. I bought one at a show 7/14 for $400. Came with a modern 1907 sling and one mag condition 90% from recollection. Mags are expensive!. I haven't followed them in a while, perhaps like everything else they've gone up? HTH
dalbert
Mags can be had for $35-40 if you keep your eye open. If the Model 65 is blued, it is almost certainly not the original finish. $550 is an ok price, but I would expect original finish for that price. I saw a nice one sell for $650 two months ago. Sandman1957
Thanks I'll circle back after the long weekend, see if I can get them to let me take photos, and remove the action from the stock to see if there is more evidence of re-blueing. Will also take closeups of the model and serial number on the barrel / action. Thanks GentsSandman1957
n64atlas
The trainers serial numbers run up to the 6,000 range. The otheres were available to the civilian market. I have seen some that were blued in the 6,000+ range. They were very welldone but as Dalbert said, they were probably re-blued. The military finish looks rusty later on. As for the price, everyone is asking $700+ on gunbroker now days. Some have the originalslings, others have military M1 slings or the like. There shouldn't be any extra holes on these but there are a few that were done after-market for side mount scopes of the era. For somereason they want $60 for mags on e-bay and gunbroker. I find them for a little less at times. I buy them when I see them. Better watch out though, these things seem to multiply!!http://img.photobucket.com/albums/0603/n64atlas/DSC_0164_zps8c330439.jpg
johnsonlmg41
this is the run of the mill example I have. ser.# 10k The other mag might be parked? It is drilled on the left side as many are. It's about the biggest and heaviest rimfire I have and not spectacularly accurate, but it sports a place in my collection of other Reisings. Having a hard time justifying the model 60 prices and the handgun?
dalbert
johnsonlmg41, The finish on your Model 65 looks great. I would be interested in documenting its serial number in my database, to be included in a book that will be published in the future. Your rifle is from a transitional period in terms of some features, so I'd like to record the number for its characteristics. If you are ok with it, you can PM it to me. I will include it in the book on a list, without mentioning any owner names. Thanks! David Albert
johnsonlmg41
PM sent. Transitioning from what to what? I'm pretty sure they had a tough time selling these into the civilian market for a number of reasons, but the weight of it makes a good training example. I'm now wondering if it's heavier than my subguns?
