Is this a 1921 Butt or a Enfield?

http://www.fototime.com/1AF8483184A4FCA/standard.jpgI had 1921 before with the numbers stamped but no longer have it to compare to this one.

Thanks

It just looked a lot like the last 1921 butt set I had in this old pic below. I thought it might be a 21 as even the numbers looked close and in the 21 range.

Purely a guess, but the given the lack of attention to detail on the rivets holding the trap door mechanism on (not ground flat/smooth), and the marks at the top that appear to be from vice jaws where the tab was bent over, I would be surprised if this was from a Colt.

Everything I have seen that is of Colt manufacture is a work of art, this, not so much...

The screw that holds the spring for the trap door is ground flush with the exterior of the butt plate. The Colt screws have a convex head. The early Savage made 1928 and 1928A1 models also had numbered butt plates. If there is no Remington R stamped on it it is not from a Colt Thompson. At best, it is an early 1928 Model Thompson butt plate.
