Is it legal for an individual to buy a 1928A1 Thompson sub-machine gun barrel in the State of New York? I have read the regs and I didn't see anything that prohibit a barrel purchase. But don't fool yourself- the states where they are not legal have people whose only job is to track down and charge people with crimes if they discover it. I know of at least one case where a guy in CA who bought "magazine parts" was busted for something else, and the CA DOJ folks went through his computer and tried to arrest and charge out of state sellers when they found "assembled" magazines in perps possession. so, seller beware.
