rpbcps
Back in 2012 a dealer in the UK, knowing my interests, offered me a V2 WPS drum with a blued rotor. I thought all my Christmas had come at once as pre-WW2 drums are very rare, almost as rare as ‘rocking horse poop’, to find in the UK. So, I was pleased with that purchase, never expecting to find another pre war drum for sale in the UK. Earlier this month another board member based in the UK, informed me another dealer had listed an L drum, which he believed was a Pre-war WPS drum. The drum was listed as “WW2 Thompson 1928 50rd drum magazine”, but the name plate shown on the online listing was NY, NY marked, however, the instruction plate was not shown. I thought it may have been a ‘mix match’ cover and body, so I dropped them a line asking for some more photos, which when they arrived puzzled me a little. The magazine catch locations on the drum bodies differed on both the drums. Therefore, I forwarded the photos onto two usually reliable sources on MGB, you know who you are, who confirmed it was a V2 Pre-WW2 WPS drum, but the example I already had in my collection, has a patch/ modification added to the magazine catch location. So, I purchased the listed V2 WPS drum, although money is tight at the moment, but I could not look a gift horse in the mouth, knowing how rare these are in the UK. So, I now have two variations of the V2 WPS drums in my collection, thanks to Paul, Roger and Tom. Edited October 19, 2020 by rpbcps
