  I am taking a shot in the dark here  - I had an FN D BAR with very similar markings

which was said to be "Armie Luxembourg" - it had the AL and three numbers.

So? These Thompson's we're overhauled in Luxemburg? At some point?

No 1928 Thompsons in Luxembourg. Luxembourg army only used the M1A1 and those were not marked AL either
And no overhaul facilities in Luxembourg
Only FN ordered guns were marked AL like the SAFN FAL and FN Highpower FND machine gun

What is the meaning of the mark? Having 2 show up is a little unusual. Could it have been a pd mark?

So there you have it. I believe Frank would know.

This gun has "GEG" stamp. AL 464 and "TOMMY GUN". No other inspection stamps. Was this normal?

I have one marked exactly like that (pre-May sample imported by interarms).

Those Thompsons were for foreign contracts, so no US inspector marks.

 

Savage made Thompsons all have the GEG (George Goll) inspection stamp.

Exactly what I thought. What year did interarms start? This gun has pd markings,so I wonder about yr of import.

It. Has a 250,000 serial number range. It has a vertical foregrip with no sling swivel. A buttstock with a modified sling swivel

Interarms imported a lot of firearms in the 1950's and 1960's.  Many went to police agencies.

This one has RLB and the ordnance bomb as well as GEG. Is that because it was lend lease? Note the serial number is lower.
