PK does it again

Recommended Posts

Paul Krough of Diamond K has turned my WH28 from a sow's ear into a silk purse. They sure do beautiful work. It looks and runs just great. Thanks again, Paul!

I certainly agree. My WH28 came home to me this past Tuesday, 14Jan20. When I opened the box my only words were "gorgeous". A huge thank you to Paul for his God given talent. I imagine Chief762's gun and mine were in the same group, like brothers. Good to know.

All the best to Chief762

I'm curious, did Paul stamp it with his diamond logo?

tsmg236.jpgtsmg239.jpgNo, Darryl, he didn't. At least Paul didn't stamp my gun. Hopefully sometime in the near future, now being retired, I can get up to CO and visit his shop. Maybe he'll stamp it then. But either way, I'm totally satisfied. I know what kind of a junker I sent him, and when I opened the box, I was blown away. Truly art deco, action smooth as butter and runs like a new Rolex.

Darryl,

No, Paul did not stamp it with the Diamond K logo on the gun. I specifically asked him to do that when I sent him my gun. His reply was that he had stopped stamping guns with the Diamond K logo a few years ago. He gave no reason as to why. He did state that the detailed invoice that accompanied the gun should be kept to show that he had serviced the gun. The gun's serial number appears on the invoice as well as all that was done.

Although I considered the wood on my gun to be pretty nice it now does not look quite as good in comparison to how fantastic the gun itself looks. Might have to get in touch with Deer Slayer about some new wood to compliment PK's work.

I've owned 5 Thompsons that were PK'd. Paul did everything I asked in a very expert way.

I had asked for the stamp also. I always assumed that it because I may have "hindered" him

with my do's and don'ts, in his mind he may have thought the gun was not his best work.

That's the only thing I can think of on why he refused to stamp them.

By the way PK is the best !!

In my case, not knowing what the gun needed, I gave PK a free hand to do what needed to be done. He covered it all. I think he just chooses not to stamp guns any longer. I would have been a real bonus if he had.

He will, on request. I have it on my WH M1.

When was that? As I said, when I sent him my gun in September, I specifically requested he stamp my gun when he completed it. No restrictions on what was needed to be done.

Before Paul returned my gun I sent him a reminder of my original request to stamp the gun with the Diamond K logo when all the work was completed.

Here is Paul's response on 28Dec19.

" I stopped stamping guns years ago, your invoice should provide any provenance you may need."

Best, PK"

Perhaps it's a liability issue...

Perhaps, I suspect that once the gun is returned to the customer the owner could possibly change, modify, or tinker with the work Paul did and that could diminish performance. If the gun is permanently stamped it will always reflect on PK. Just a guess on my part. Paul never explained why he no longer marks the guns he works on.
