Winchester sling swivels

Recommended Posts

My Model 1912 Winchester "trench gun" is missing the upper sling swivels. I tried making one by bending a piece of wire stock and bluing it, but my results are not that great. Does anyone know where a replacement swivel can be found?

I also tried to fit a M1907 sling to it, but the sling swivel on the butt stock seemed to be just undersized to allow the brass frog to slip through. It’s an original World War II era sling, am I missing something obvious?

There are companies that make repro hand guards . They might sell just the swivel IF their repro would fit your original . I ran into the exact same problem as you on getting the hooks through . Been years ago though , and I'm afraid the answer is now lost to the fog of time . Maybe they mounted it up-side-down ? Just not sure .

It's been my experience with front Win. trench gun swivels that you push the sling's hook plate through the swivel slightly sideways. One side of the plate clears, and you compress the leather slightly while rotating the other side of the plate through. Easier done than said. Never a real problem.

I tried, and it just wasn’t going. I was trying with a vintage 1942 Boyt sling so I didn’t try real hard either.

Are you missing the sling swivel thats mounted on the bayonet mount??

yes, the sling swivel nearest the muzzle.

I tried reaching out to one of the companies that makes reproductions and they would not sell me a swivel loose.
