john
the family today, but I probably couldn't get through it with dry eyes....a lot of fine Christmas memories went into this one.... I hope you all enjoy it - maybe we have some of the same memories. Merry Christmas to you all and have the best CHristmas today! John, Alice, Jess and Sam (and Felix the cat, too!) On Christmas days of years gone by…… When I was just a little boy my heart was filled with Christmas joy So magical, that time of year When I would spread my Christmas cheer And have my family close to me With presents ‘round our Christmas tree On Christmas days of years gone by…… We always had the finest tree And fixed it up so beautifully Spruce, pine or fir, it didn’t matter in green or flocked with snowy spatter And there was always room for me Amongst the gifts beneath the tree On Christmas days of years gone by…… Our Christmas stockings were really grand each knit by Mom with loving hand With lots of room for toys and such some years more, some not as much But always in the toe we’d find A great big apple – the golden kind! On Christmas days of years gone by…… The flashy presents beneath our tree would fill us kids with Christmas glee Torn open to reveal what was inside a game, a book or a bobsled to ride! A workbench or dollhouse handmade by Dad Or tools for the ambitious lad On Christmas days of years gone by…… Later we’d all sit down to eat And thank the Lord for bread and meat Turkey, Venison and Roasted Wild Duck calling dibs on the wishbones to bring us good luck! Then snack on pistachios, cookies and fudge Feasting until we could barely budge On Christmas days of years gone by…… Brothers, Sisters and Cousins would play until late and sleepiness was our ultimate fate Our Parents would tuck us into our beds with Christmas joys still thick in our heads We lay there for hours before we’d sleep With new Christmas memories forever to keep On Christmas days of years gone by…… Now my Wife and I have a Daughter and Son And neither of us can resist the fun Each year we use our family positions To start a few new holiday traditions While keeping with the old, it seems we’ll give our kids their own sweet dreams Of Christmas days of years to come…… By John Anderson December 24th, 2005 (BTW, my kids both have big stockings that my Mom made them and they each will find a huge Golden Delicious apple in the toe! Merry Christmas, ALL!!! http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/tongue.gif )
Ron Mills
I agree with Phil. Thanks, John. Makes you stop and think. Stopping and thinking is good. But not too much thinking about Thompson prices...wink! ("...wink!" is a proprietary expression originated by our resident The Respected One, and used with permission, I think).
