Gangster Relatives Still Alive & Well

Recommended Posts

Have had a couple questions about this- Any relatives out there of the gangsters- You bet.

Lot are personal friends now, have known for years, some I just know. Lot have books in the works.

1) Jeff Scalf, Dillinger's great nephew. Super dude, really into his Uncle John. Indiana

2) Buddy Barrow, Clyde's nephew. Texas

3) Debbie Moss, Blanche Barrow's cousin. Texas

4) Pam " Rabbit " Tippet, Edna " kissing bandit " Murray's grandaughter. Ok.

5) Bruce Barnes, Machine Gun Kelly's son. California

6) Rhea Leen Linder, Bonnie Parker's niece. Texas

7) Boots Hinton, Ted Hinton's son. Texas ( Bonnie & Clyde Ambush )

8) Ray Nugent, " crane neck" Nugent's son, SVDM machine gunner. ( been years tho)

The Capones are out there too and others, area I'm not into.

How about any of the Barker's kinfolk, Sandy?

Rob

There is but I've never been introduced. The house in Florida was recently put up for sale , I think they had one of the great nieces interviewed in the Real Estate video. Lloyd Barker was shot & killed in Denver in the 40s by his wife, he's buried in a unmarked grave in Brighton, Co. Rick Mattix and I found it.

FYI, Baby Face Nelson's son & daughter are gone now.

Thanks, Sandy. I don't suppose Alvin Karpis had any children? I haven't seen anywhere that he had, but then again, I tend to miss things. ;)

Rob

Alvin had a child with Delores Delany, who was I think 21 at the time, 1935. A son named Raymond after his father. The son and father ( Alvin ) never met till 23 years later in the visiting room in Alcatraz. Don't know where he is today, if still living ? I can find out if interested, I think.

Nah, don't go through the trouble, Sandy (although I appreciate the offer)...I was always just curious if any of the progeny of the Karpis-Barker gang were still around; although I've read a lot about ol' Creepy, it's been a few years, and I had completely forgotten about Delores (I was thinking of Nancy, his last squeeze in Spain).

I have an old Canadian VHS from the 70s I think, where this guy interviews Karpis at different locations, as if they are sneaking him around at hidden locations, tongue & cheek. They have like a 1939 Buick and a couple guys with Thompsons as props. Pretty cool. Might be on YouTube.

In my collection I had a newspaper found in the Barker-Karpis house , and a story about a bank robbery was circled in pen & ink. We traced the date and found out if was the time Karpis slipped out on his own and robbed a bank.

Hello Sandy. I know this is an older post but I just found your website and am a brand new member. Would you mind me asking about this subject? I am trying to find anything I can about Alvin "Creepy" Karpis and am fascinated by all the bits of information I am finding but I think there is so much more that I can only guess about. I just found newspaper archives from 1961 with a photo of Raymond (Alvin's son with Delaney) who also became a burglar and was awaiting trial out on bond. I found death information about him so he is no longer with us (passed away in 2001) but he married and had a son (Damon) but sadly the son passed away at age 15 in 1988. I always wonder what happened to the parents of Alvin though. If you have any information about this fascinating character, I would love to hear what you have. Thanks for anything you have.

I'm very limited on Alvin Karpis. He did have a book out that was part of my collection that was sold, look to Amazon maybe. There was a guy that was part of our historians group that was big into Karpis. He drifted away.

See if you can find that old Canadian interview with him I mentioned, very cool. There has to be some contemporary stuff written about him or a History Channel thing. There is a group called Gangsterologists on Yahoo , might ask there, lot of authors.

Wish I could be more help on old Creepy.

I think Baby Face Nelson's illegitimate great grandson lives in Indianapolis and still owns one of his great grandfather's Thompsons.

Rumor has it anyway. Calls himself Adult Face Nelson in the bars. Whew, strange place Indiana must be.

We just call him Jack, or Simple Jack.

He told me to call him : " My (you know what) doesn't stink cause I own Baby Face Nelson's Thompson " or just plain Sir Chopper .

His Secretary calls me " Mr.OBM" , which is kinda an insult.

" Sorry Mr. OBM, Sir Chopper can't came to the phone right now -"

I haven't found much information on the three Delaney sisters; Helen (Babe) Delaney Reilly (wife of "Pat" Reilly, Dillinger's aid), Jean Delaney Crompton (lover of Tommy Carroll, Dillinger gang), and Dolores Delaney (girlfriend of Alvin Karpis & mother of his son). Does anyone know what happened to any of them after @1938. I last read that Jean & Dolores disappeared after getting out of prison but that's about it.

If it's not in Ellen Poulsen's book, I wouldn't know. " Don't Call Us Molls , Women of the John Dillinger Gang "
