My Colt Government 45

Recommended Posts

At a gun show last Saturday I purchased a nice Colt Government Model 45.

It was made in 1931. Except for some light rust its in pretty nice shape and fired very little.

It goes nicely with my Colt Thompson and other Colts pictured below. Sort of a family portrait of my new Colt and his cousins.

Hope you enjoy the pics.

Very nice Colt collection and cars!

I might be buying a post WWI commercial 1917 45 this weekend

depending on the auction price.

I think Jim C 351 is hiding 1930s outlaw stuff in a closet. Keeps coming up with stuff. Now I'm thinking it wasn't Depp outbidding me on the original Dillinger 38 Super. A dime short on that one.

Jim-

I've got a Thompson grip & grip mount that I've always wanted to mount on a pre-war 1911, 45 or 38 Super doesn't matter. Do a semi Nelson/Dillinger Colt mini. Of course would destroy the value of the weapon, but doesn't matter to me, have to be a shooter anyway. Chris was explaining a while back about AOW guns. Have to find a good smith and talk about it. The guys in Idaho that did the Lebman 351 conversion, didn't seem real excited. Good find on the 31 1911.

Sandy,

I recommend that you not use a gun like a collectable Colt.

Buy the cheapest Essex frame parts gun that you can find and use it.

On the one hand it will impress a know nothing person and on the other hand it won't make a Colt person puke.

Better check the law. You may be making an AOW, requiring a form 1

Just researching at this stage.... I've started this project a couple times and stalled for other reasons. I got a buddy that has about 70 1911s, various shapes. Paperwork ( form 1 ) isn't an issue, just doing it. We'll see. We've discussed this before about the Essex frame parts gun.

Time, money etc gets in the way sometimes.

A guy on the forum here, did a killer-looking Baby Face Nelson Colt mini- Used a Sarco kit. The best example I've ever seen, looks just like the 33-34 Lebman one, semi auto. All legal and all. That's some obligation.

I'm impressed.
