Merry Ploughboy
The thing ya gotta remember about entertainers and artists is that just cause they can act, sing, dance, play the guitar, blow a horn, paint a picture, write a novel, etc. better than you and me doesn't necessarily mean that they can think. Zamm
Personally, I think Hanks and Spielberg did a great service by bringing to the masses, what the "Greatest Generation" went through. Not everyone has read Stephen Ambrose's great books... It also gets me that just this veterans day, some local affiliates backed out of airing Private Ryan because of fear of offending the FCC and getting finned. Cripes, that was what these guys were over there for. QUOTE I don't hate fags, I hate what they do. And I don't hate rednecks, just how dumb they can be sometimes.... Jim, do you even know any so-called "fags"? Have you ever had a friend ravaged by this disease and then die wasted into nothing? Aids is a virus, it has no morals... just ask anyone who has gotten it from tainted blood, by accident. Zamm
Diogenes
But the $64,000 question is: Will Dale Dye do the training of the actors and serve as technical advisor as he did with "Band of Brothers" and "Saving Pvt Ryan"???? If he is, then it will likely be a classic production. If not, then it will be another hollywood elephant, stifling full of glaring technical errors, so that no one who knows anything about it can actually enjoy it. Here's hoping for Dye. Zamm
Phil, Yup, I'm sure we are way off topic now... But it still startles me how short sighted some folks are. Aids in Africa is predominantly heterosexual, as I'm sure your daughter and husband can attest to. That is some knoble work they are doing, my highest respect to them. They could be driving Ferrarri's over here, but lucky for us, some people follow a deeper calling. And so dear moderaters, I promise to go to the "rant" section if this thread keeps going down this road. Best, Zamm
jim
How did we jump from the evils of homsexuality to AIDS in Africa? Yes, how AIDS kills people is pretty disgusting, so is what homosexuals do. Yes, people do get AIDS by inocent, nondeserving means. Why are you trying to change the subject? But if you want to go down that road.......... Why do you think AIDS is/has spread like wildfire through the homsexual communities? It's because they are totally depraved with their desire to have sex with as many people as they can and be as perverted as possible. Haven't you read in the papers that fags having "unprotected sex" with each other has been on the rise for years now? Why do you think that is? Reread the first sentence in this paragraph. They know the risks. Oh, by the way Zamm, Why is it whenever someone talks out about immoral behavior, people like you label them as uneducated "rednecks"? If your definition of a "redneck" is someone who holds to a simpler, more God-fearing lifestyle, than all I have to say is HEE-HAW! Why am I dumb? because I talk out against homosexuality and I shouldn't because of the self-inflicted disease that goes along with it makes it a lifestyle that can't be criticized? You are the one that needs to think a little deeper my friend. Why are you trying to put pity on them? because they have a very high chance to get AIDS? AIDS in the U.S. is, for the most part, very preventable, people need to stop screwing everbody they feel like. I've known/know plenty of fags, I live an hour north of Seattle!! jim
One more thing concerning your last post, Zamm Mr. Sophisticated. It's spelled noble not knoble, unless you were thinking about the machine gun shoot in Knoble Creek Kentucky! Yours Truly, Redneck
Zamm
Phil, Eloquent, as usual. Jim, By using the term "redneck", I was making a point about "stereotypes", such as your usage of the term "fag", but being the pinhead you are, it was moot. Take it off list, my email is zamm@optonline.net You wouldn't last 5 minutes in the South Bronx you ignorant fool... Zamm
Walter63a
Phil, well said indeed. You may be right about the conditions, genetic or environmental, which create homosexuals. I, like President Bush, just don't know for certain. However, I know what the Holy Bible says about, "the lifestyle." It is wrong, just the same as pedophilia (sex with children), bestiality (sex with animals), necrophilia (sex with dead human bodies), incest (sex with a sibling), etc are. These lifestyles are not natural. http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/ohmy.gif http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/blink.gif For an individual to have those tendencies may be beyond their control, but to act upon these urges is immoral and, until recently, was illegal, just about everywhere. That being said, it is wise for us, as full-auto fans, and just plain individuals, to try to eliminate (or at least tone down) the hatred. I don't hate individuals (that would be wrong), but the teaching of these "lifestyle choices" is not to be tolerated. If we tolerate it, our nation will be destroyed, through it causing our families to rot and then the nation, inviting attack from other nations (due to our weakness)! http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/sad.gif Phil is right in pointing out that hatred can be very destructive and divisive, even counterproductive. However, I can't tolerate the liberals trying to force-feed their unnatural, unhealthy, immoral lifestyle "notions" on the American public (through television, radio, the printed word, laws, and judicial rulings from activist judges). Do any of us really want these freaks (liberals) telling us, or our children, what is right and wrong? http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/cool.gif Best Regards to all, Walter

LSU Tiger
A couple of points that need mentioning to get back on topic. Point 1: Dye was a Marine. The Army used different tactics in WW II. That's what killed "SPR" for me... and the fact that they wore BLACK boots. http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/blink.gif "BOB" was better, but there are still errors that can be found. Overall, the best of the recent WW II flicks. http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/smile.gif Point 2: Tom Hanks was in a REALLY bad flick no one mentioned...and I can't remember the title. He played an American serving in the RAF in North Africa (complete with Eagle Squadron patches!) who falls for a native girl/woman. Not worth wasting a free rental coupon on. anticus
That one was "Every Time We Say Goodbye" in 1986, way before he hit the big time. Most of the stars had a clunker or two in their resumes. Even John Wayne had a howler called "The Conquerer" where he played Genghis Khan ! Arthur Fliegenheimer
"The Conqueror" was more than just a clunker. It was a killer, literally. Wayne, Susan Hayward, Agnes Moorehead and Dick Powell all contracted cancer from the radioactive contaminated land. The film location was in St. George, Utah, which was downwind of Nevada's test range.
Hawkeye_Joe
Yeah .. Dye uses a lot of later tactics in his teaching of military cadres in movies. One thing I noticed is he always has patrols with weapons pointing out. You can even find that he did it in "Last of the Mohicans" Just before the ambush on the George road where Hawkeye meets Cora you can see the two "point" Redcoats are walking side by side with weapons pointed out..(meaning the right scout has his Bess in his left hand and the left scout in his right). This "NEVER" happened in the 18th century British army.
