Wtb Shooter Thompson, Wwii Or Wh, Either One

Recommended Posts

Have looked at several over last month and come close to closure on two. Both seem to have gone south with one being a total turd, the other being a seller that can't seem to make up his mind on anything let alone call somebody back.

If you've got a line on one, please advise 'cause I need a shooter for me and my sons. It's not for resale.

Thanks in advance.

GP,

On one hand, I have experienced fast, courteous, professional service from both dealers and private sellers. It sounds like you are limiting yourself to private sellers. As a general rule, the dealer has a lot more to lose through errant behavior than does the private seller.

On the other hand, you may (and I say again may) pay more for a particular TSMG from a dealer than from a private seller. As has been stated many a time on this here board, you won't pay too much, you'll only buy too soon. Since your intent is for a heritage purchase, consider paying more than you want to but what you have to.

On the third hand (which you may want if you are going to use drum magazines), it took me over six months of dilligent watching and searching to find what I wanted. The TSMG market is very limited and to some extent a sellers market which, again has been stated before, results in the high and getting ever higher prices for the TSMGs of every make and model. Patience, persistence, and paying (a lot of all three).

Good luck with your mission, it is a worthy one.

just go out and offer $$20,000 and they will pop out of the woodwork.................however that might be too much to spend, then you have to wait for the right deal..........

i have a 28 military pre-sample{minty cond.} maybe in the wing's......

another deal pending, and will probably end up paying 6,000.00 for it.....i need a shooter............i don't use the colt 21a and if the guy boosts me more then that i will pass on it...........i don't like getting ripped on anything....and a thompson NEVER..............

look around alot and search, and never ever jump on the first one...............because when you really really gotta have fun, sometimes just sometimes, you pay tooooo much!!!

but then again if you plan on keeping it for more then ten years..........................DO IT!!its a addiction and emotional purchase by far!!! take care, ron

More people are killed in motor car crashes than by homicidal, gun wielding letter carriers http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif

Well put. The name is still in poor taste. By the way what does AF really stand for? http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/wink.gif 15 minutes later DUH I just got it... "killed in MOTOR-CAR crashes..." http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/laugh.gif http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/laugh.gif http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/laugh.gif

I shall not "lose the name" since it is one that I was christened with by some very good old friends of mine from way back. I am not a letter carrier nor an employee of the USPS by the way. I am a n00b to this board but an old timer to many others in the NFA world and those that know me from many a shoot I've attended or a show that I've worked know that I am anything but what my moniker seems to conjur up in the minds of those that have let political correctness run wild.

Thanks for the advice on the purchase etc.

Best regards,

GP

This board is a bit milder than others I also hang out on....on several others I'm known as "postal".....because I DO work for the USPS. I fix machines and do electronic work. Not related to Gone Postal, but I do know him from other boards.

When I started posting here (several board formats ago) I decided to just use my first name as to be a bit less offensive to others.

On other less PC boards I've been using "postal" for years.....

I believe neither of us intends to insult anyone....just having a bit of fun!

Gotta keep 'em guessing!!

Part of the problem is that it takes so dang long between buying one and actually having it in your hands, that the original post will be long forgotten. http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/laugh.gif

No buy miraculously I head back from the individual that I intially called on the WH gun. Turns out he wasn't blowing me off (he says) and is still interested in selling me his gun. I never worked so friggin hard to get someone to accept my cash!

Will report back when deal is done.

Thanks again all.
