Barrel Removal / Reinstallation

Recommended Posts

I've had the NFA papers for my semi auto 1928 for a while. I've got the barrel and whatnot, but it's just been sitting in a drawer for probably 3 years now. I don't know how to remove the original barrel. I'd be willing to pay someone to install my short barrel (and move the Cutts over to it) I just don't know who to get to do that sort of work.

What do you guys recommend? Anyone else have a SBR Tommy they've had this done to?

After a lot of research here and some ingenuity, I did mine myself. Made a barrel clamp out of cedar blocks and a bench vise and grabbed the receiver nose with a pipe wrench with THICK leather to protect the finish. I Also modified the grip hanger to be removable without having to remove the barrel first. Hundreds of rounds later I'm confident I didn't screw up.
