Interesting info on my 1928 FOIA Request

Recommended Posts

Filed a FOIA request on the 1928 I received earlier this year, and see something interesting. Assumed it was a old DOD or police department release. From the redacted form from 1968 it says the owner acquired it in 1942!. It has a inventory number on the stock so I'm assuming it walked off from a PD or defense plant or such. Any other ideas? Have added a pic of the number and a scan of the 1968 amnesty paper. Have posted the gun in a previous post titled GEG stamp on my 1928. Also looks like the original owner had it for a long time the next transfer isn't until 1994.

The Amnesty form is dated June 1969, well after the Amnesty. ATTD let people who were outside of the USA on government orders submit forms late. Typically these were U.S. diplomats, soldiers and intelligence people. So my guess would be that the owner was a "special" government employee of some sort.

Have 2 drums, the New York came with it. Got the WWII on Gunbroker for like $450. Could't believe it went that low. Guess the Thompson people missed that week!

Only a guess but it probably said "Thompson Sub Machine Gun" and the non gun person doing the redaction did it because is was a persons name.
