JEP
I'm brand new to the forum. Just took possession of an M-2 Carbine (took about 8 months to get ATF approval), and I already own 2 M1 Carbines. On disassembly and cleaning, I notice the M2 selector switch seems to be bent when compared to photos I find online. Can I legally purchase/possess a selector switch? Can I legally own M2 spare parts in general? My research seems to say I could own up to 6 of the 7 parts required to convert and M1 to an M2, but I also found a claim that if I own an M1 carbine, I can't even purchase/possess any M2 parts. Any advice is appreciated, AND I recognise it won't be legal advice and can't be relied on by me!
JJX
Since you legally possess an M2 carbine, you can certainly purchase replacement parts and keep spare parts for it. Absent a legal M2 carbine, anyone can legally possess six of the seven M2-specific parts. But whether you possess an M1 carbine or not, it is illegal to possess all seven parts. Black River Militaria CII
The M2 selector levers are easy disassemble, with you-tube videos helpful, from the receiver and to straighten. If you don't want to do it, a local gunsmith should be able to do it for you.
