Oldtrooper
Not exactly a SMG topic ... But I found this interesting. A woman in her 90's was going to throw away these "old guns" that belonged to her late husband ... My son identified them for the owner in his shop today ... The Bottom rifle is a Meriden Arms .22 ... The top carbine is a Palmer civil war breech loader chambered in 56-50 Spencer ... It was actually the army's first bolt action rifle ... The value of the gun is in the $2000 - $4000 range ... And she was just going to toss them in the trash. Good thing someone asked. Makes on wonder just what is still lurking in attics and closets ...
Sandman1957
I was offered an "old civil war pistol" once for 1k. The seller dropped it off at my Mom's house and the next time I went by I opened the paper grocery bag it was in, removed the red shop rag and out came an extremely nice LeMat complete with worn confederate holster. I called the guy and told him, thanks but I could afford it. Told him at the time the gun was worth 15K alone and another 1K for the holster. He has it in a safe deposit box now. He later asked why I didn't buy it. I told him I have to look at myself everyday when I shaved...
