Sandman1957
A distinquished Gentleman was referred to me to assist in purchasing a Colt Thompson. He is 70, has the ability to purchase and is not interesting in waiting a long time and dealing with potential scammers. He understands the sticker shock, the NFA time out box, and is ready to join as a fellow collector. I am reviewing current listings, and have sent PMs, emails to some individuals. If anyone has a Colt Thompson they are ready to sell, or has leads on one please PM me. He is interested in a 80 percent gun or better. Preferably all original. Order of interest 1921A, 1921AC, 28 Navy Overstamp. Overall condition will likely be the distinquishing factor between the models. Photos of potential guns with descriptions would be step one, very likely him inspecting the gun step two, followed by payment likely on the spot, with NFA paperwork following. He is a VA resident, limited access to computers etc. If you know of something please let me know. Thanks in advanceSandman1957
CptCurl
Sandman: There is a Navy for sale in Roanoke, VA. S/N 14148. Ask is $29,900. Lenden Eakin 540-598-3030. It is pictured on his website www.class3only.com. Lenden is a great guy to deal with, and the gun is already on a Form 3 here in Virginia. In his day job he's an excellent general practice lawyer in Roanoke. Good luck! Curl

Arthur Fliegenheimer
The class3only.com dealer has sale pending on one of their $29.9K Colt Navy, the other Navy #14148 does have a WWII frame grip, yet is described as "Matching all original with Colt internal parts." mnshooter
Not making any accusations here, but it appears that sellers advertised A.O. 151757x doesn't show any sign of a "U.S." having been ground out just left of the 1928. In that same area, also cannot see any signs of the Blanchard grind marks that are visible on the rest of the receiver flat. Are there examples of these AC/"x" guns that never had the U.S. prefix (ground off or not)? Edited June 1, 2014 by mnshooter
ineverlistentoFM
I passed on 14148 and the 8xxx that is pending when they were 35k in 2012. 9xxx had less nicks than 14148, but not much. At 35k plus tax they were high, then. I did not like how scratched nicked up they were on the receiver. Granted the price is lower now plus tax is almost sixteen hundred plus shipping. To his credit, the seller was very nice and offered to throw in ammo and a ww2 drum with either. He's an attorney who can do a trust for you very inexpensively, too. I can suggest a trustworthy class iii dealer who will hold the receiver in Harrisonburg if you are not a cr license holder, he charges $75. Sandman1957
Update as of Tuesday 17 Jun 14. The buyer met with a seller over the weekend and has decided which gun he wants to purchase. I will meet with the buyer tomorrow night and assist him with any paperwork etc. I will ask who he contacted so I can follow up with those he may have talked with, so no-one is left hanging. I would like to thank David Albert for letting me post this thread, and especially to all who made offers. I will let the buyer or seller post any info if they choose regarding the new ownership. Thanks again, we have a new first time NFA collector and he is a Very Happy Camper! Sandman1957
Haaa!! If you can't get something for yourself, then helping others scratches that itch. I have a repro oiler myself. I'm certainly addicted to this. Hello, I'm Sandman and I love Thompsons...
