REISINGSTAR
F/U to the previous post on 20 rd. Spotsman Guide Thompson mags.I got three in yesterday and spent a couple of hours cleaning and degreasing. Here is what I found: 1. Seymore 80-85% blue finish,no rust or dings. 2. w.p.s. 40% blue finish, alot of scratches,no rust 3. s w co. 50-60% blue finish, few scratches, light surface rust that came off with fine steel wool. Can't say about function yet because my 1927a1 is enjoying a stay at PK's. For $14.76 each +shipping,I did'nt think that was too bad.I was pleased to get a variety on makers. Arthur Fliegenheimer
Resingstar, So to get one good WWII XXrd mag you gotta spend $45 on pot luck mags? Maybe forking over $70-$80 for a mag whose condition and maker are known in advance is not so bad?
SecondAmend
Got the new CDNN catalog a couple days ago. Thompson 30 rnd mags are now up to $16.99 plus HIS (up from $14.99). Based on the reports of occasionally questionable quality, I'm wondering what has prompted price increase.

brian
i've got 6 XX's from S.G. except for one, all were close enough to tweak, by hand, with a pair of needle nose's. the one that is to far out would need an anvil to fix, the feed lips have a very squared off look to them. i got the rifle back today, and all five of them functioned flawlessly. http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif i'd order more from them, but i really don't "need" any more. the finish is thin on all of them, but no rust or pitting. h46pedro
I guess it was not my day when they selected the mags to send me. I must have gotten the crap ones. All of mine were pitted and dented on the body of the mag, lips were bent, basically ones that should have been put in the TRASH! Glad that you all got the good ones, that means they did have some good mags. Rregards, Al
