Dewat mp40

Recommended Posts

Was a mp40 ever turned into a dewat by welding a plate over the magwell opening?

I don't think that would make it a dewat as it could still be fired by single-loading cartridges into the chamber. I've never seen that. Do you know of a gun like that?

in 1963 before president kennedy was shot, my father , who was a police officer , ordered up two mp40s from europe at the whopping price of 50.00 dollars per gun. they came fully assembled with a small bit of round stock tacked into the chamber for the dewat. this was a simple fix and both were up and running after a bit of lathe work and polish. the man that did the work had been a captured german soldier from ww2 who stayed in the states after the war ended. I have zero idea where those two guns went. now they torch everything. what a shame
