TommyGunner
Well, just got a new price sheet from Kahr and I noticed that they are listing the new C drum on the list. Retail is $599. Last week I was told it would still be a few month before the drums are done. Word is that the Drum Wizard may be helping them out! Just thought I would pass it along. Still waiting, hoping, praying. I hope that everyone had a happy holliday! Best, Damon

JimFromFL
I think I will wait to hear the reviews before I purchase one this time. Mario Scarpino
Who is the Drum Wizard? Assuming someone buys one and does some testing in full auto mode and the results are favorable, would another "group buy" be possible? If so, what would the likely savings be on a $599.00 C drum (assuming we buy in a "large quantity")? Now if I get my L drum from sportsman guide and then a fully functioning C drum, I will be having a GREAT Christmas and a fantastic NEW YEAR!!!!! We got to get all this bought before Hitlery gets elected!!! The price on our C and L drums will go thru the roof once she is elected! Buy all you can buy!!!!! DC Chris
Mario- Merle Bitikofer has a great reputation for tuning WH "C" drums. In my collection, I have a drum tuned by him and it works fantastically in full auto. His contact info is in the FAQ at the top fo this forum if you need his help. He stands by his work. The word going around is that he is/has worked with the Kahr engineers on the C drum engineering and testing (someone can confirm that if they wish, I can't say with certainty). If that is the case, they should be markedly better in quality than the first post AWB sunset Kahr L drums. Chris.

TommyGunner
Norm, Not sure about the serial numbers or not. I will ask when the opportunity presents itself. Mario, I will put a group buy together on them when the time comes. I won't know anything about pricing untill the drums are almost ready and I have some rudimentary quantities to deal with. I have already spoke with Kahr on this. Another Clinton President? Lets not will that one into existance. The thing that kills me is that here in NY...so many people love her. I just can't understand it. Chris, Merle Bitikofer himself told me that he has been helping out...this adds some real hope. Doing my best to give these drums a fair shake until they prove otherwise. Will pass it along as I find new info out. Damon
96lt1ss
Worst case even if Merle had to rework one to make it function, for about $1000 you have a fully reliable "C" drum. I'm willing to pay that much for a working "C" without hesitation, considering that I have been out bid at that much for 1980's produced units that would have needed to be fixed by Merle to work properly. Personally I'll take two without too much concern. http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/dry.gif

ranger7
QUOTE (PhilOhio @ Dec 29 2005, 12:49 PM)-snip- To expand on that, for the sake of estimating how the public is responding, I keep seeing a few new Kahr 1927A1s at gun shows in Ohio and southern Michigan. Maybe they are the same guns. Not one of them has had the new cocking knob. So the guns are not moving. -snip- Can you describe or, better yet, show a picture of the old and new cocking knobs? When I inquired about my L drum from Kahr, they asked for the serial number of my semi-auto that I bought with it. Kahr replied that my carbine was "recent". John Jr
3-4 hundred dollars is all I would pay for a working one. $200-225 for L and $300-400 for a C. (I would not have another piece of shit from those asshats at Kahr if the price was free) Anyway... http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/nutkick.gif
96lt1ss
Since when does ebay allow an auction for firearm components? It was my understanding they were not going to let auctions for 10 rounders happen anymore let alone 100 round magazines. I have not looked for a "C" in over a year because of frustration from high prices. I had no luck locating or bidding on one for under $1000 If Kahr offered one for $599 and I had to spend $400 to have Merle make it reliable it seemed resonable to me. Supply and demand controls the market the ebay auction mentioned is something I would prefer but until the auction ends the starting bid means nothing. Warden
About 2 weeks ago, I listed a WH rear sight on ebay. The next morning, ebay pulled the auction stating that listing assault weapon parts was a violation of ebay policy. They further stated that in the state of California, the Thompson is considered an assault weapon. http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/blink.gif
ranger7
Thanks for the reply and the pictures and link to earlier thread. Decided to post a picture of the bolt handle on my Kahr. Obviously not a "cheese grater". My bolt handle
96lt1ss
Does the slot in the bolt serve a purpose or could the knob be solid?
Sgt
Woops! Phil just beat me to the punch. Anyways, here is what I wrote: 96lt1ss-- If you are referring to the slot on the handle part, that allows you to see your front sight. If you mean the slot that goes in the receiver, that is where the spring assembly resides.
96lt1ss
I was referring to the cocking knob, the question seems stupid now. Guess it just proves I prefer not to use the sight...seems more fun that way.
JimFromFL
Sights!?!?!!? There are sights on the Thompson?!?!?!
