I bought this deactivated M38a many years ago - the receiver has been replaced by a steel tube, no bolt and the barrel has been plugged...It came with ATF letter stating it is not a firearm. All other parts are in good shape and sometimes I wonder if it could be used for a semi-auto build using Indianapolis ordnance parts. However I do not know of a smith who works on these and I do not have the tools to attempt myself what seems to be a rather tricky build. Anyway here are some pics.
