I would like to make this board the full auto only message board. I would be nice to have a place that ONLY relates to the full auto. There is another board out there that is about 99% semi auto. This would be a great format for asking questions regarding the real full auto guns.

I have a DLO Sideplate Browning.

Hey John,

How are the DLO guns as far as they are built, quality of the sideplate and other issues? I have thought about trying to get one and maybe even trading my Thompson for one and would like to hear some of the experiences that you and other full auto 1919A4 owners have had. Any drawbacks to DLO guns, are the plates made from good quality steel? Thanks.

Hi! I am the artist previously known as ALVILLAR. I have a High Standard, WWII weapon which I acquired about five months ago. Have not yet had the chance to fire it (local range unfriendly to NFA weapons; although I did fire my M1 TSMG at it when no one was around). Furthermore, the greatest range is a mere 370 yards, hardly anything I would like to initiate Ma Deuce on. However, I will soon be moving to my homestate, TEXAS where I can blast away!!! (I hope I will not have to change my username again as I will have a new e-mail address; maybe Nick can help me on this, when I get to TEXAS).

Do not know anything about DLO, so will have to defer.

Best of luck finding Ma Deuce!!!

Remember, "Gun Control is not about guns; it is about CONTROL!!!"

I have not had the gun long enough to know much about it yet. I know I have to grind on my feedway spacer for 8mm, but I dont know much about these yet.

As for metal quality, I have no clue, I had never even seen this gun until last Thurday. It is, however, a beautiful job on the gun. I will post pics some of these days. I know nothing about metal qualities and such. I am just a shooter.

I have sure learned what the true definition of a machine gun is. These things are machines!

Doug Olfinger builds/has built some of the best sideplate 1917/1919 type Browning guns available. He is perhaps one of the greatest resources to our NFA community and the large number of plates and STEn tubes he built have been a real blessing. He is selling sideplates and the quality of finished guns will depend on who is building them in the future.

I have owned a DLO and own a Saginaw now. Good friend owns the DLO now and we shoot both in 06, 308 and 8mm. Friend just bought a C&R MG40 (Commercial ANM2 30 cal) form Doug O.

Remember, these DLOs were selling for less than $2000.00 just 10 years ago. $7500.00 two years ago and now $11000.00 +. They work. If for same reason they don't, they can be made to work.

Well I finally was able to get the loan and now am in the process of selling some of my Thompson drums and other things to be able to afford to purchase one of these beasts. The one I am looking at is setup in 30 06 and is a DLO sideplate gun. I will have to wait and see if I can get the money for this gun before someone else purchases it. I really want this gun but if I can't get this one then I will probably get one straight from DLO and pay about $10,200.00 for it as that was the last price he had advertised in the newest Shotgun News mag I have.

His price might have dropped slightly due to the summer slowdown. Can anyone here that already has one of these 1919A4's post some links about where you can find accessories, metal feed links, etc. I would like to have enough parts, links, etc to fire my new gun in both 30 06 and 308. Thanks.

PS. If you know of anyone that is looking to purchase two WWII Thompson L drums send them my way. I really need to get moving on raising money for my new 1919A4. Thanks.

Take a look at www.1919a4.com They are primarily interested in semis, but they have some links to sites selling accessories. Also Firearmnews.com is a good starting point.

What Thompson drums are you selling?

Good luck with your purchase, you'll have a lot of fun with it.

Hi all,

I have a 1919-A4 FA built by Ohio Ordnance on a Ramo sideplate. I have both 30.06 and .308 capability. The gun is beautiful. It is a pleasure to shoot even after only shooting 3K rounds in .308. 30.06 is kind of pricey to shoot. I'm saving the 30.06 for homeland security in case someone decides to try and take over my street. The 1919-A4 is about the best choice for your first belt-fed because of parts availability and price, in my opinion. Have fun!
