Wolf Advanced Polymer Coating

Recommended Posts

http://www.wolfammo.com/polymer.htm

Has anyone bought a bit and tried it in the good old full auto Thompsons? I tried the other laquered garbage and it would not run (wouldn't have shot the shit even if it did run for fear of laquer buildup insided the chamber).

And please people, lets not let this thread fall into the "Why would you shoot that cheap shit in a $15,000 gun?" type of thread. (Not to mention is would be the same reason you run the cheapest grade of gas through your $50,000 SUV). Anyway...

Has anyone tried this stuff. What have you encountered. I have heard the Evansville WW2 Steel had trouble in the Thompson too, so I was just checking.

Jr

I haven`t shot any Wolf .45, but I have shot lots of .Wolf .223 and 9mm...very consistant jamming and breakage in the M16,Sten MKII,Sterling, and Stemples76/45 when the lacquer melts and cools...I learned the hard way...got tired of fixing and replacing...now I just shoot my own reloads or new brass cased ammo...whole lot cheeper than MG parts...I wish I could still shoot Wolf but my experience has taught me otherwise,my .02,out. http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/wink.gif

21 smoker...

The stuff I am talking about is NOT LAQUER COATED. I asked if you have fired any of the NEW ADVANCED POLYMER COATING AMMO.

SecondAmemd...

Point taken, the Russians also invented the AK 47. Enough said? Hay you yet fired any of the Wolf Advanced Polymer Coating 45 ACP through your full auto Thompson?

LSU Tiger... grey cased right, not green? If grey, then good news!

mgdoc8307... Good news indeed.

Thanks

John Jr,

Not being a gun designer but as I understand it, the AK-47 was developed from the German MP-44. As with virtually everything, the AK-47, which I consider to be an excellent gun (Success proves excellence), was an evolutionary design.

No, I have not and will not shoot Wolf ammo ever again in anything I own. I used to shoot the "old" Wolf 9 mm in the Sig Sauer P226 because that was the only gun that it worked in. Of course every ammo I've ever tried works in the Sig. Wolf was just too unreliable in my other 9 mm guns.

As for the TSMG, I only shoot Federal Red Eagle. I do not have the place or time to shoot full-auto that often, so the price premium over Wolf, S&B, etc. is not a serious deterrent. Long arm statutes not withstanding, I prefer to buy ammo made by an American company should the gun ever malfunction due to fauty ammo.

The new and improved Wolf sounds like great stuff. However, I'll stick with the Federal, thanks.

I've shot a bunch of the old lacquer coated stuff through my 28 over the past couple years. If some of you read my posts on this, you will remember

that I made mention of much scrubbing of gunky crud out of the chamber. The gun would start to fail at about 300 rounds and until it was cleaned, would fail to extract (lotsa stovepipes!) http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/wink.gif

But I still shot Wolf because the price was right. And my gun still shoots great, with close to 10K through the same barrel.

I bought a couple thou of the new Wolf polymer stuff (looks different....not shiney, but has a matt finish that you can't scrape off with your fingernail...)and proceeded to run about 700 rounds through my gun at Knob Creek without a single malfunction. http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/blink.gif

I'm sold on this stuff because they made it better AND now it's cheaper!

Sportsman;s Guide has it currently listed at $111.00 per THOUSAND!!!

I'm not knocking anyone with a really nice Colt who wants Brass case only used in their gun. And if I had a nice Coly I'd feel the same. BUT my gun is not even close to pristine. I take care of it and I choose to save some cash when I feed it.

This new stuff by Wolf works great for my purposes!! http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/tongue.gif

I intend to try some of the Wolf as soon as I run out of WWII Russian repack. Would have bought some yesterday at the gun show but didn't make it. Missed it by "that much."

JR, whatever you do don't shoot that laquer-coated W!#F crap thru yer gun! It's known to cause cancer, birth defects, nausea, vomiting, diarhea, headaches, temporary blindness, incontinence, irritable bowel syndrome, high blood pressure, low blood pressure, no blood pressure, and should not be fired by women when they're pregnant or nursing (woohoo! didja get THAT picture in your head). Whatever you do, stay away from it!!!

Oh, I just realized I'm not sure wtf you're talking about. Did you mean the LAQUEER coated stuff or the PLASSTIC coated??? Hmmmm?
