Thanksgiving Day for 5th Army in Italy, 1943.

Hats off to the army cooks!

When I was in, I don't think I ever saw a mess sergeant or cook who wasn't doing everything they could to make good chow for us.

Same when I was in. I had some great meals at the BN mess hall at Ft. Campbell. Aviation officers were not charged a meal surcharge due to the distance from the airfield to any place to eat so I took advantage of that opportunity often. We had some great cooks.

Best banana bread I have ever eaten came from a mess hall at Ft Riley, KS.

The French army, or at least our unit, had some of the worst cooks I have ever known!

These comic strips probably sum it up.

We used to love being on exercise with US Marines when they visited Djibouti in the 1980's, they were curious about our ration packs, and we loved their MREs.

We got the best deal on those exchanges for sure!

Best chow hall I ever ate in was at Biggs Army Airfield, just off of Ft Bliss, TX.

Actually at the NCO school there, where I attended PNCOC/CA, class 5-81.

The second best was at Camp Lee, our border camp, while serving with 2/11ACR, '82-'83.
