StrangeRanger
...as if the too-good-to-be-true price wasn't a hint https://www.armslist.com/posts/9536052/zanesville-ohio-nfa-firearms-for-sale--1918-winchester-c-r-bar The same guy posted an MP40 for $8K a couple of weeks ago. There's a whole thread on that on the MPboard.
Black River Militaria CII
I did a bit of research on the seller of the MP40 as well as receiving a few e-mails from him. The ad noted an OH location, but his first e-mail claimed the gun was in TX. I received copies of his FFL with premises east of Dallas, TX in a residence. The FFL checked out on internet FFL check. Also received a copy of the MP40 F3 with the FFL number of the transferor whose premises was a residence in a small town in OR. Pursuing the OR FFL info, there was no further info about a firearms business or anything on that person’s circumstances. I asked if I could come to TX to see the gun but got no reply to that request. Further e-mails encouraged me to send my FFL/SOT and get the deal going. The F3 appeared to be legitimate with current FFL numbers but even with current FFLs the F3 could be bogus and they can be easily forged. So many unanswered questions. I e-mailed him that I was comcerned that his offer was a scam and no longer received any e-mails.Caveat emptor!!
Sandman1957
Is this something that ATF should hear about? If they guy is posing as a Dealer, they should be interested.
Black River Militaria CII
Sure. Licensed dealer could be acting in collusion with a valid dealer, lr any kf a number of scenarios could be underway. I imagine Dallas ATF office might be interested or regional.
