someone from Nigeria didnt get their $8k mailed to them.....
we all see scams...i wonder how many get screwed?
no one is gonna brag they lost $15,000
ill bet it happens weekly to someone
every time i post a WTB on gunboards i get hit once or twice by scammers. if you ask for pics it typically ends it, but once in a while they try to send you a pic. often its not even close to the part your looking for. They do it, someone falls for it

This very ad popped up on WV armslist. I emailed the guy, didn't get the story. But, email came back from Piney Woods Arms. I googled them. Got their number. Called them...First thing that the woman said was...We DON'T have an MP-40! DO NOT SEND MONEY!!
Wow. She said that they had been getting many calls about the gun. In the mean time, I had asked the "seller" for a copy of their FFL and more pictures. Sure enough, next day, I got about 8 more pictures, including 2 pictures of a copy of their FFL. I called them back, Piney Woods arms. Said, I talked to you yesterday, she responds again with do not send any money! I told her that I was emailed pictures, including what appeared to be their legit FFL. She said that the numbers on what I received was wrong, and that they were in contact with the BATFE. I forwarded the email on to them in Texas.
Of course I flagged both the WV ad, and the Ohio Ad. First thing when I saw the WV ad, I was ready to get in my car and drive with my C3 dealer with cash in hand. The old adage, if it looks like it's too good to be true...Well, it is.

A day or so later, got another email from the 'seller'. Keep me posted. The email header was from Piney Woods arms. But the actual email address was something from blah, blah, blah, outlook.com.

Not the first time I have heard of a scammer supplying a doctored FFL.
Its good that the shop has notified the ATF.
Who knows what else the person holding that document is using it for.

Counterfeiting an FFL has got to be a federal crime of some sort. I doubt BATFE will let this one go; it's more-or-less the reason for their existence

it took a lot of effort....i clicked scam....5 seconds of my time...
now if the seller had listed it at $11-12k it would be a different story!...it ''could'' be real....i got mine for $11,500(remanufacture)....so bargains do happen...but at $7-8k...it just wasnt possible to for anyone who can spend 10 minutes on line creating an ad and then just couldnt figure out how to look at Gun Broker to see what its worth. People dont sell these guns with guess prices

Trying to cut and paste the email. But it won't let me...Several guns listed including German MP-40 and BAR, both C&R, no price list. I wonder if it is the same scammer. Anyone else get a similar email?

I haven't seen the e-mail but I doubt very much it's the same guy.
Our guy was running a scam in OH based on a TX gun store (who had never heard of him and didn't have the MP40 in question.)
Ram Lake doesn't have a web site that I can find but they show up as a legitimate gun store in Norcross GA http://fflgundealers...m-lake-llc.html
AFAIK all BARs and MP40s with genuine original receivers qualify as C&R so that's not an issue here.
Just for grins call them at 770-313-7315 if the number in the e-mail is different and ask them for pricing. If they have a BAR for $18,500 I'll be on the next plane to Hartsfield.

Next time I get the guy from Pakistan telling me I owe money to the IRS, will tell him my friend will sale an MP40 to him on the cheap to pay off my tax penalty. Of course before I do that, will need for him to to send me money to get my grandson out of jail who has the contact info for the guy who owns the MP40.
