Rimcrew
That thing has been on GB for like two years. It was a hammer at one point in its life.

TD.
I believe it is one of the remnants from the 1939 French order of 3000 Colt's. Special 1928A1 - Thompson Submachine Gun Message Board - MachineGunBoards.com Forums Agree about the hammer. It is just a very expensive, i.e., overpriced, display piece. StrangeRanger
But if someone had the matching receiver they'd buy that paperweight in a heartbeat and pay a TSMG-competent smith whatever it took to restore it. ...then locked it up in his safe to be taken out once or twice a year and displayed

TD.
Plus 2 Ross. And yes, many are. However, there are still a number of shooter Colt's in the community. There are ways to shoot a lot of Colt's without devaluing the investment. But I understand your point! Regarding the receiver of NO 9283, I would be very much surprised if it ever returned to the U.S.A. That said, Colt's have an uncanny ability to survive. All good stuff!!!
