Not Mr. Thompson, but still a noteworthy fellow

Recommended Posts

I know it's not Thompson-related. But I also know we all have additional ballistic interests. (For example, there is no more elegant weapon than the 1873 Winchester rifle. Dissenters owe me a beer.) It's empty, it's about 3" x 5", and it's free to a good home. If you've got a Browning Auto-5 and you'd like this, let me know.

Sorry boys, but there is no one cooler than John Moses Browning. When you look at the side profile of an Auto 5 shotgun, a BAR and a Winchester 1894, you can see that they all came from this man's drawing board.

His list of firearms invented is long. My two favorite are the High Power pistol and the Superposed shotgun. Honorable mention to the 1911 Colt.

If any of you have been to Ogden Utah (or plan to go?) You can easily spend a day at the John M. Browning museum. Many of his original prototype guns are in display in the white as built, design specs, fabulous dioramas and info galore. The 1911, 1919, BAR, potato digger and Ma deuce are all present as well as many others. Make sure your camera battery is fully charged!

You will not ever be more impressed with a gun museum than you will be going through this one!

It's at the Union Station museum complex here:

And while in Ogden, the Hill AFB gas a wonderful aviation museum ...plan for several hours as it's a good one!
