Warning Scam Seller

Recommended Posts

This is a possible scam, paid for the item and never received it. Gave bogus tracking number. Contact with seller and said that it is on it way. Took 10 days before they even marked it as shipped. 2nd communication there was no response. Ebay said they tried to contact seller but no reply, yet Ebay did not remove item. Just a heads up

Obviously something has gone wrong here but with 420 sales and

a 99.4% positive feedback do you really think this guy is running a scam

with $12 oilers? I will be interested to see how this ends up....

Bob

yes, I really do. Besides, that is why I put "possible scam"

things i order from over seas typically takes 30-45 days

how long have you waited?

with 420 sales its doubtful its a scammer

I said "possible scam"

when I purchased it, the add said 16 days to deliver to my zip code, the seller told me in his first communication that he did not even mail it for 16 days. And like I said in the original post gave me a Bogus tracking number.

The UN Arms Treaty means that effectively all weapon parts and accessories can't be shipped internationally. Such pedestrian items as K98 stocks frequently disappear at the discretion of some postal clerk. Good luck....Phil

Article 4

Parts and Components

Each State Party shall establish and maintain a national control system to regulate the export of parts and components where the export is in a form that provides the capability to assemble the conventional arms covered under Article 2 (1) and shall apply the provisions of Article 6 and Article 7 prior to authorizing the export of such parts and components.

If the contents of an international shipment are small firearms parts, and oilers are NOT firearms parts under the international definitions and even US, never list the contents as firearms parts. For import into the US there are state and ATF requirements as to a value ceiling as well as restricted parts, but many US buyers receiver small parts from E-Bay sellers and other sites with no problem.

Most reputable sellers from Europe and Eastern Europe know the US laws by now as they have been told what they are, they read comments on sites and they want to protect their trade with international buyers.

This reminds me of some comments on this site suggesting that makers of repro parts wouldnt do it for the implied measly $1000 a year they might get for selling repro Thompson parts to buyers in the US on E-Bay, etc, but they couldnt be further from the truth. Repro parts are BIG business overseas and extremely accurate repros are being made of extremely obscure firearms. Further, distressed and relic repros are also very popular with the collectors of battlefield relics who value possession of an example of an object whether real or repro so they have one in their collection. Real is always better but where there is a demand there will be product and repro parts and complete repro guns are very popular overseas, and not only in Europe. Complete, live repro MP40s are now available overseas with incredibly accurate parts that are also being sold to shooters and collectors in the US for their vintage, live registered MGs. FWIW

All I ask for, is when I do business with another is honesty, if you forgot to send it, tell me (hell, I forget a lot at my age) be honest (if you over sold a product, that is fine as well). But when you refuse to communicate, send fake track numbers, that is unacceptable.

Seems simple and good business edicate.

As for arms parts or not, these make great clock and machine oilers

I've had things take as little as 5 days to reach my door, but then I've had them take over a month as well. Most of the time the tracking on their end isn't great anyway, until it reaches the US and is through customs.

Yes, I have had stuff come from Greece that took less time then coming from New York, it is really odd. But tracking even in the US has been hit or miss

I just bought a small MP40 part off eBay and the seller was in Latvia. The part was shipped out the next day and i received the item within a week. Tracking number usually wont show up until its in the US. No excuse for bad communication or taking 10 days to ship out something though. Edited by Petroleum 1

I have had similar experiences. Packages take less time to come half way around the world than they do to make the last 75 miles from the Memphis postal sorting center.

Small padded mailers seem to be the worst. I have had 2 of those take 3 weeks to get to me AFTER they arrived at the Memphis Sort Facility. But , this explains why I have a job.

Being in the mail order business I finally got so tired of packages we shipped being lost, misdirected or delayed in the Memphis sorting center that a few years ago we switched all except for an extreme few to FedEx One Rate. Saved us time, money and aggravation. While guaranteed a three day delivery we often receive next day delivery without additional cost depending on the work load of the receiving FedEx center. Plus for us being so close to Memphis the packages leave here and go direct to FedEx's largest hub.

I have had an account with UPS for 35yrs and have been very happy with their service. I wish FEDEX would take over and operate the green X guys. They would be better able to compete with the dependable UPS ground service. just my 2cents Edited by Petroleum 1

UPS in my case has stolen items from me and not honored their insurance. I had a case of wine sent, they kept it, said it was like cocain, and was destroyed as contraband. It was shipped from an authorized shipper and insured. They refunded nothing. I also know of no-one who has collected on a package the mangled. They always have an excuse.

Never had any major problems shipping or receiving via UPS in over 22 years of being in mail order. The only package damaged in that time was paid for by UPS with no fuss.

When we choose FedEx over UPS it was due to FedEx having a center in our area and receiving better rates by being a member of NSSF.

Finally received the Oiler today. Ebay had already refunded the purchase price because the sellers tracking number did not work and he never replied to their. I am now trying to find out if they took money from him or if he needs to be repaid. Any suggestions?

The quality is good, needs a good soaking in Kerosene.

BTW the aad said it came from France, but the reason it took so long is that it came from somewhere in Greece.
