Military 28 buffer pilots can be obtained from various surplus sources such as Sarco. Phil Askew of these boards should have them also, and his surplus parts are known to be of excellent condition.
I manufacture an "enhanced" pilot. This is exactly like the GI except the tolerances are held on the high side for better fit and the length is optimized to offer the best support to the spring.

Reference the list of WH production, I bought S/N 319A as an upper receiver only in late 1976 and had it assembled in Canada on Savage lower receiver S107867.
It certainly went fine, even better with a set of 1921 internals bought from Numrich at the same time.

I'm afraid the only one I saw was the one I assembled. I sold it to Marstar going on 4 years ago.
