Bruce L
Thanks, John Jr. This is fantastic! Brings an already great Board to a new level. If you don't have a mic, pick one up. Setup was painless. Its great to put voices with you folks! See you tomorrow evening. Bruce

John Jr
We were glad to have you MP40. There are a lot of neat things about being on this message board, and I think that if we do it right, the weekly chats with voice will be a nice addition. The voice quality that this little program has is incredible. Its VERY clear. You can see all the people on the voice server and you can see who is talking. With just 4 of us in tonight we spanned from almost the East coast to the West coast. It would be nice if some of the overseas people could join in (hope they can speak English!). It will be fun to do it again tommorow night. If you missed it, join us tommorow night. If the IP changes I will post the change. Take care John Jr
mp40
Thanks John, say, I was wondering, how do we prevent "stepping on everybodys toes?" (trying to all talk at once)
Walter63a
Totally off topic, but neat, are the photos and map I posted of Mars, in Rust's thread on the recent landing! http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/blink.gif http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/ohmy.gif http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/smile.gif http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif Regards, Walter P.S. full auto 45
As computer stupid as I am, I got it on the first try. Hot damn. Now I have to find a mic. So I'm a typer now. John jr. did you get what I typed out earlier? Can everybody see that? It would be neat if we could get evrybody on the board going, but then there are some I really don't want to hear let alone see what their typing out to read. mp40
Ya, my typing and speed sucks! it might take all day to say much if I had to type it all...
John Jr
Naw Mike, I didn't get whatever you typed. Get a mic and be there tommorow, you will enjoy it a lot. All the guys in tonight had a good time. The talking at once thing will resolve itself if we are careful. The best way is to start a subject, such as what kind of ammo have you had the worst luck with and ask another to answer, then that person can ask for someone elses opinion on the matter. Would go something like this: Hey Craig, what kind of ammo do you have problems with? Everyone will hear Craig chime in and reply and Craig might say "I hate that Wolf stuff, it jams. Bruce, have you ever shot any? Bruce comes in with his reply... and so on. Usually if someone starts talking and someone else starts in at the same time both will stop and then I will try to call on one or the other. Its kind of like a big conference call almost. One good thing about something like this is the ability for people interested in the Thomspon to talk to other people who are interested in the Thompson in real time. This program also has a chat function built into it so you could have sessions of real time Q&A. We could have something like Wednesday night Ammo Depot or Wednesday reloaders talk. I love the internet forum concept and the voice added concept is certainly not new, its been around for years. It (hopefully) will turn out to be like a TCA meet the board members from the comfort of your own home. I am hoping Murry Willis, and other board members from across the world will join in and discuss the Thompson. That would be really cool. Remember you can totally test your ventrilo before you ever log onto a server. You just need the client version to make this work and you can get it here: Ventrilo Download page Once you have Ventrilo downloaded and working (remember you don't have to connect to a server to test it), I should be able to provide you with a link to click on and your in automatically. I will work on this. Take care. Jr
mp40
Guys at this point, I should say that although it is mostly Thompson related, it will probably include all class3 (and some non) items...You know disscussions on this board usually end out that way anyways! Walter63a
John,Jr., I was thinking the same thing about it being like a large conference call. http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/cool.gif Also, it would be great to speak with some of the guys from around the world, like Murray, Balder in Norway, Vollon in Belgium, Gordon Herigstad, P.K., Doug Richardson, and on and on, not to mention the regulars all over the U.S.! http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/smile.gif http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif I'm pretty excited about the possibilities. Of course, Machinegunbooks.com will still be very important. Some things are better communicated via witten words, pictures, and video. John Jr
Yes sir! That will be 8:00pm Central time. I will open the server before that time so setting can be tweaked for anyone that needs to. We will try to get a guest speaker in for the session if I can. Take care. full auto 45
what's the number. I tried to log on like I did yesterday with those numbers 67.64.14.169 and it wouldn't connect.
John Jr
Mike, I am not sure what the problem is but I did see where you connected on Sunday and then disconnected. It should work. Check out the ventrilo site and read the troubleshooting section. If that does not work, e mail me at johntitsworthjr@sbcglobal.net and we will work it out together. mp40
Hi guys I realy hated missing out on the conversation tonight!!! But, too many problems got in the way! like -20 this morning! I froze my ass off!!! certainly not the time to have low anti-freeze levels!! I got through that (I guess) but it took some time to get new anti-freeze and put it in..Also, I had to do something about my dog, so when I put him out in the morning he doesn't freeze! So, I got that done too! But, at least some good news, I got a microphone! So, perhaps tomorrow?
