anjong-ni
Ok, NOW I'm jealous! Great looking work, Mark. I believe I have a similar D.R. receiver. How did you do the inspector stamp? and how did you make the "actuator wear pattern" on top of the receiver?....Phil
MARK2112
Stamp was cnc machined, actuator wear was done with a dummy acuator looking piece of steel that i cycled back and fourth.

R67
Mark this is fantastic. Your attention to detail is exquisite. May I ask how long this took you to put together?
MARK2112
Its been a 2 year love affair,at first it was all reblued and looking too brand new, then i got bored and wanted to sell it,then i started looking at the colts thru the internet and studying the wear points and the wood, and started all over again.my father recontoured the wood and then i stained it with a color thats just about perfect for an old colt.there are details most on here can pick apart but its moving in the right direction, thanks for the compliments. R67
Thanks for the reply. May I ask the dreaded question? How much did this piece cost to put together? I ask because I have thought about doing this myself...
MARK2112
I bought the kit from a family member for 1300.00 that most of it had been sitting for 30+ years. The reciever is a richardson and parts were from a ' 28 kit.if you can afford to buy one of his recievers do it soon as he is just about ready to call it a day on production, these are exquisite in every way and the engraving is superb. R67
Thanks for the advice. I have a M1928A1 military kit that looks great, but nothing beats the classic bluing and no compensator look of the 1921.
MARK2112
Anything can be achieved by people out there doing stuff for the display guys.there are guys that make wood and guys that make barrels to mimic the 21s.id rather have a real colt but even if i did i cant display it in fear of theft .there are also guys out there that can blue to original colt carbonia blueing.
