I finally finished a project I started this summer.

The first project was scrapped, bending wood is not an easy chore.

Wow, that's very nice! You should be proud of that. You made that by hand? Good job. Is that a copy of some type of early case that you have seen before, or is it your own design?

Man, nice job.

The hardware looks great.

Thanks for the comments!

I made it from some scrap red oak and cherry I had laying around.

I quess I should have called it a Penn/Indiana case. Styled after the Indiana, with a few mods that I wanted to included. http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/smile.gif

Nice Case, but damn, bet it gets heavy!

LOL, yeah, it is a tad on the heavy side. I certainly would not want to walk very far toting it, especially with the drums loaded.

Very, very nice. Well thought out... but where will that C drum fit? http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/laugh.gif

Excellent work!

My thoughts exactly, Mike! Is anyone making a reproduction of the Indiana case? It would appear to be the best in actual use compared to the Police and FBI cases that want to fall over backward when the gun is removed. http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/sad.gif

Jack--

That's a great build!! I'd think that it would be less bulky than the FBI style, and certainly holds a lot of good stuff, without over-crowding. In your photo, the covering looks grey. Is that really black?

Now you can flip open the latches and impress the babes. It kind of looks like a secret agent attache'.

Thanks for the remarks!

giantpanda4,

Dang, I knew there was something I forgot! Now I have to build an even larger case to allow for the C drum. I think the next one may need small wheels. http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/wink.gif

Mike,

I don't think I'll be making any more soon. It was a heck of a project for the first case I've ever built. I went out and bought a table saw especially for the project.

I think Greg asks around $800 for an Indiana style case, but don't quote me. After making one he is entitled to every penny of it as well.

PhilOhio,

I used nuts on the underside of the handle, the wood should give before the fixtures. I looked for a nice leather wrapped handle giving a more period appearance to it, but haven't found any in black at least.

Sgt.,

The color seems to be a very dark gray. The outside dimensions are; 27.75" x 15.75" x 4.25".
