What Kind Of Cleaning Kit For Trapdoor?

Recommended Posts

I was wondering if there was a cleaning kit that I could buy to put into the trapdoor in the stock or am I just on my own for cleaning stuff to fill it? I know the AK's and SKS's that I've owned have had a special cleaning kit that fits into the trapdoor, is there one made for the Thompson? I'm guessing that some kind of pull thru would have been used, doesn't look like enough room for a cleaning rod set like I had in my AR-15. Also, a small screw driver would come in handy to help field strip the gun. Talk to ya'll later. http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/wink.gif

I was thinking of getting a tube that would fit and putting a pull thru and small screw driver in it. But it's really for an oiler, never would have thought that. http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/huh.gif I did notice there were some felt "washers" in there to take up space I guess. I guess the felt washers with the hole in the middle is for the oiler neck to fit into so it won't get broken off. LOL, that's all I need to do, put something else in/on my gun to make it heavier. http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/unsure.gif

TN.Frank,

The WWII 1928 version has a black crinkle paint finish on the brass body of the bottle. Yes, the cap/neck of the bottle does fit into the hole in the felts. Three felts are normally used for this oil bottle. There is also the later M1 version, which is parkerized and cylindrical. As I recall, only one felt is used with it.

Sorry, no pics.

I keep a copy of my form 4 in the buttstock wrapped up in a M1 Garand cleaning kit holder. That way I have a copy with the gun, one in my truck and one copy of my C&R on me. That way some local yahoo Barney that doesn't know the law won't try to pull some "you don't have the correct paper" with the gun crap.
