Trip to Mooresville, Indy, Auburn

Recommended Posts

Had a few trips the last couple months that offered me some time to check out the sites. Here are some pics I thought you would enjoy.

Crown Hill is worth a trip to walk around if you enjoy cemeteries. The Essex looks great and I think they are planning more for the display. At the moment, it is in a back room with minimal display. If you like cars at all, you have to check out the ACD museum. The collection is simply stunning!!

Great photos, thanks. Going to be interesting to see what happens to the Essex. The Washington DC Crime Museum that owns it, closed the doors. It's leased to the ACD museum till April, from what I've been told. Also the Auburn PD were intending on displaying the Dillinger Thompson ( # 8946 21AC) with the car at some point ?

I think I may still have a spare key to the Essex, maybe make a get-a-way in April. Nobody would notice till we got out of town, then make a run for it.

Next time you're in town, let me know. you were about 1 minute from work.

I remember doing a photo shoot up there a few years ago with a very nice model.

That's always a great shot to see, with the Thompson. Still amazing how many people still chip away at the headstone- This is # 4 maybe # 5 replacement, forgot

My little brother is the grounds manager for Crown Hill Properties. He said they have to replace it about every 4-5 years due to damage. Next time they do, I may try to get the old stone.

Joe Pinkston replaced the 2nd one I think, had the old one in his garage. Wouldn't give/sell it to me.

Didn't know they replaced it that often, thought it was more like every 20 years or so. I've got some old shots of it thru the years, you can follow the chippings.

You should get the old one, nice little prop for Thompson photos.
