I have toyed with the idea of selling one or the other when this gun transfers. Here is my dilemma, I like the look of the blued WH and if I keep it I will send it to PK and turn it into a 1921A clone (no comp). I like the fact that it "looks" like an original Colt gun and would go well with my Greg Williams FBI case. But the Savage 28 is a C&R WWII piece and has history and doesn’t need a thing done to it. He usually has a long backlog of work and some people have waited a year or more to get their guns back. So you better keep both if you want to able to shoot for the next year. If you don't need the money right off, keep them both. I don't think there is a better place to park some money for awhile. If you absolutely have to get your money back on one, I certainly see the dilemma. On one hand, you are looking for that certain look and on the other you have a GI original. Apparently the Colt look is really important to you, and it appears that you enjoy the prospects of making a project of this. All run great starting with the Bridgeport L drum, then the new Kahr and last but not least the WH C drum http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/smile.gif I then took it apart for a good cleaning, only to find out it had all of the original parts, except the bolt. Is this common? The breech oilier was either gone or they never had them in the WH guns, does anyone know? I put it back together with all NOS Savage parts including nickel bolt and also put the breech oilier in it. I also took the aluminum piece out of the WH butt stock and replaced it with GI steel. The only other thing I wanted to do was replace the "full auto" selector paddle, the one that is on there is slightly "discolored" almost like a light purple http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/blink.gif. And the magazine catch lever is out from the frame a little so that when you turn the fire control lever it hits the knurled part of the magazine catch. All indications are that the new WV staff is truly dedicated to getting the system working properly- we are all excited to see what the next few months will bring. The GI frame can be reblued to match the WH receiver, but it is often better to do both together, insuring a uniform color and polish. Mike is right about the missing breech oilier. I am very uncomfortable having anyone’s gun even 6 months, and will stop taking work if I believe I can’t deliver in 8 at the most. While it true that the guns I am currently working on have been here a little less than a year, I don’t recall ever taking longer than this. I recently sent an open letter to my current customer list advising of a significant loss of schedule due to major upgrades being required to the finishing phase of operations. This was a comprehensive reorganization requiring not only new equipment, but a building to house it. This requirement was not expected and like most of such events, couldn’t have come at a worse time. Because much of the work was done by myself, the impact on the schedule was about 2 months. Everything is online again and better than ever. Work is progressing more quickly and current projections show to have the back log down to a reasonable level by the 2nd quarter of next year, if not earlier. Most have been very understanding and I have appreciated that very much. While I am very aware of, and concerned about, the time it takes to perform my duties, my foremost commitment continues to be the very best quality. While my practice is broad, I offer the most comprehensive service available for the Thompson, especially the unique problems of the WH models, and will not compromise a good job for the schedule. The time one is separated from his treasure is quickly forgotten if the results are satisfying and last a lifetime. Respectfully and gratefully submitted. It's been said here before that his work is superb and well worth the wait and I totally agree. We are one patient bunch to endure the wait for simple approvals from the BATFE so to wait for quality work such as PK's goes with the territory. I know of no one who is unhappy with the results.
