StrangeRanger
Possibly the embalmer got to the body first because initially none of the Feds involved saw any need for an autopsy and it was pretty much their show. I don't know if Ohio law at the time required one in any case of a violent death but if it dead getting a doctor (who may or may not have been a trained pathologist) involved late in the game could be a result of the whole federal/State jurisdictional issue
Vettom
Back those days the funeral home typically had an ambulance or a call car to pick up a body. This was common practice in some areas as late as the early 1970s on the east coast anyway even funeral homes ran ambulances in rural areas. A lot of funeral home staff rode ambulances too. LEO got body transported to funeral home and they may have done some prep work until MD got there. Just a hunch IMHO.
