Savage vertical grip on GB

Recommended Posts

Just a heads up, I stumbled across this listing on Gunbroker last night (Item number 942710054) and figured that maybe someone here would be interested in seeing it or bidding on it for their Savage model of 1928 thompson. From what I am seeing in the photos and comparing it to what I have been reading here on the forum, it looks correct with the "S" with serifs running parallel with the grip mount slot but I could certainly be wrong as I am still a novice here so do your own research to verify that. Assuming it is genuine, it will certainly go for more than I can afford, but maybe one of you guys can go for it. Edited by TennesseeTaylor95

Yeah, I imagine it will go for more than a few shiny pennies considering that they don't pop up for sale that much. It will be interesting to see how high it does go for though.

I am a complete novice so my thoughts on it don't mean much as I don't have any first hand experience holding and comparing original examples ( I just have the knowledge of reading about them in reference books), but I do like the way that it looks. The wood looks old to me and it reminds me of the walnut that my philco radio cabinets are made of. Hopefully some of the experts with knowledge and/or original examples will chime in and give us their thoughts on it.

I believe thats the same grip that was on eBay a couple days ago. They pulled the auction with 4 days to go.

What do you think was the reason that it was pulled from eBay?

With all due respect.

When someone is genuinely interested in a 100 year old Thompson collectable, they hope to acquire it at a somewhat reasonable, but fair price,

Meaning they hope it will stay "On the down low"

When those who have no intention of purchasing become "The Whistle Blower" it always drives the price up beyond what I consider reasonable, and those with unlimited funds are the ones who end up with the treasures,

Like I said, no disrespect, but I hope some think about this, if not, I hope I can repay the disfavor someday !!!!

So I'm the whistle blower/"the bad guy" because I made a public comment on a forum about an item for sale on a different public website that others could have discovered on their own if they use a search bar on said website, correct? Edited by TennesseeTaylor95

Theres no "on the down low" with Ebay or Gunbroker. They are the 2 biggest sights and everyone is searching and sees them.

My thoughts exactly. Anyone who genuinely thought that this listing was going to sit in the shadows for 7+ days on one of the most used and biggest, if not the biggest, firearms related auction/selling websites in the US so that he or she could sneak in and get it with little or no competition is being rather unrealistic to themselves. I also don't see how I am a whistle blower with "no intentions of purchasing" when I even put in multiple bids on this foregrip.

I guess no good deed goes unpunished around here.

Dont let a few uninformed people bother you. Most of us look for Thompson parts on these popular sites every day Some people think that the Thompson world is small and they want to steal a popular part. However ifs their part or gun they want to get top dollar for it.

I sold one that had an enfield sling mount for $550 buy it now feature 2 years ago so i can only imagine how much it would run now

I've got a Savage vertical with the British side sling mount I'd sell for $550 to someone here who needs it. I'm taking in to consideration that it solid but does have a crack, because some British guy decided to put a sling mount on the side of it 80 years ago and take it in to battle.
