Mikenmick
Finally received my tax stamp, (14 months) went shooting had a blast, my question, while waiting for approval purchased several parts, including buying a GI style horizontal grip,I also purchased what was sold as the correct small screw but when I removed the long screw the threads look different, I didn't want to force so I stopped and have posted this inquiry. Two questions are there different sizes, and secondly would anyone have a small screw they wish to sell?ThanksMike

bug
Did you try to hand thread your short bolt into the grip mount? Try it without the wood grip to verify the threads. The correct thread for the TSMG is 14-28. It is not used in production today. Ooops, make that 14-24 NOT 14-28 Edited August 12, 2022 by bug

ron_brock
The thread size is #14-24. There are no differences in the threads between short and long bolts. If your short wont thread in by hand it may not be the correct screw Ron
TSMG28
If your grip mount is an original (likely), it is 14-24 as noted above. However, I did own a WWII vet-bringback 1928, amnesty registered, that had a field-created non-standard grip mount, which was threaded 1/4-20. My guess is that the 1/4-20 thread tap was all that was available at the time the mount was created. Because the mount was not as strong as an original, they had also added the foregrip reinforcing band. Just wanted to let you know that alternate threads may have been used in some instances, though my example is the only one I have seen that did not have a standard grip mount.
