Fussbudget
DPMS Iraqi bring back with ACOG and M249 foward pistol grip.I tend to like worn wood or old buildings with rusty metal parts for a background. This gun has lots of wear so it fits right in. aalbert
With your affinity towards distressed backgrounds, I would consider doing a little bit of HDR processing on the image... It will make things a little more dramatic.. You an also bump up the blacks/clarity/sharpness to achieve some of the same effects.. Also play around with your angles that you are shooting (I like the idea of putting the gun on the fence crossmember, but maybe lower your shooting position, rotate around the gun a bit, turn the angle, etc. Here is a shot with a little bit of HDR (Tonemapping)... Not drastic, but enough to bring out the wood grain a little bit more. http://www.biggerhammer.net/photography/mgboard/1911/IMG_1701-Edit-Edit_tonemapped.jpg

I dropped the green down a little, bumped the red a bit, added more clarity, dropped some of the shadows, tighter crop... about 2 minutes. http://www.biggerhammer.net/photography/mgboard/others/MGboards_Fussbudget_100715.jpg

Kilroy
I love that distressed wood look. I've tried a couple times but have never been able to get a picture to come out right. I've got a fence in my backyard that is perfect (though my neighbor asked me recently if I wanted them to clean it because it looks 'horrible'. I said no, I like it.) but can never seem to get the scene set up to my liking nor do I have the cross members to balance the firearm on. But here's a quick cell phone picture of the fence. http://i198.photobucket.com/albums/aa54/RedSpecialSS/6C1F6194-40DA-4F8E-8A0B-86DC09EB693E_zpsxbg6vmf6.jpg

Fussbudget
These rifles were used by Ugandan security forces in Iraq guarding FOB's.They were brought back by Century Arms and put on the market and snatched up quickly.WASR 10/63's were used by Ugandan forces as well and I have 2 of them.I got mine from Centerfire systems right after they came back in country. Here is a video on them.https://youtu.be/CTIf-nFpWbU
Fussbudget
Here is one of the WASR 10/63 bring backs I have. The DPMS is a tack driver and the WASR is too.

Just put the gun in front of it, and for extra contrast have the gun running the opposite direction (or at an angle) from the boards. If you aren't shooting with a flash, get a big piece of posteboard to reflect some light in (if needed)... or if too much light. spread a sheet (out of view of the camera) to diffuse the image.
