mohawk64
I was surfing the net and found this. Has anyone seen the movie? I will try to post link - but Mason city robbery was supposedly accidently filmed. http://globegazette.com/news/local/witness-to-bank-robbery-nothing-wrong-with-dillinger-days/article_b113003a-194f-54e4-8dea-66db04ddb125.html

OCM
The Mason City Library DVD has the film included in the disk. The DVD has an re-enactment of the robbery and they trace the escape route. They used to sell it for like 10-20 bucks. I bet if you go to the Mason City library site, it's still offered. The guy that was in charge of it was Terry Harrison I believe, I haven't talked with him in years, don't know if he's still there. Nice guy. OCM The story above is a bit different then what I remember- I think the guy shooting the movie was doing a commercial or something I guess to run in the movie house- Story goes, Pierpont saw him and told him to shut down, which he did, then they robbed the bank and took off. Then the guy started shooting the film again, just after they left. The DVD, as I remember shows the film but the gang leaving the robbery was never filmed. there was shooting going on.Then he started filming the people just after they left.Nelson started firing a Thompson across the street hitting the building there, still has the bullet holes. Also the big rock in the park has some chunks out of it from the shoot-out.Can't remember the details of the total robbery, it's documented in one of the various books.
