emmagee1917
I believe the shields ( and the fore end cut for them ) were added during the pre-WW2 upgrades done just before the A2s were introduced . It could have been a bit eariler , but money was very tight between wars . Anyone know if A1s had the shield ?Chris
Big Al
It wasn't until the M1918A2 that a heat shield was added to the forend of the BAR in US service. On the contrary, the Swedish Kg m/1921, which had a forend which outwardly resembled that of the original version on the M1918 and M1918A1, did have a heat shield installed. http://www.gotavapen.se/gota/artiklar/kg/swedish_kg2.htm
