Thompson 1928A1 Actuator

Recommended Posts

Looks good to me. You'll occasionally see a purplish tint on blued steel if the temperature of the bluing salts bath varied from that recommended. The entire receiver on my M1928A1 has a dark eggplant color to it. It's original.

Thanks for replying TSMGguy. I hoped that may be the case. I have a Beretta pistol that is similar and have seen photos of other guns with a purple/brown hue to the metal and understood that to be the reason. Not being that familiar with Thompsons though I guess I just wanted confirmation it wasn't something else. Haven't seen other photos on the web with such a thing on Thompsons. I like the look actually. Kind of a dual tone look to it.

It's a deactivated Thompson in Canada. Pretty much has to be deactivated these days, but is an older DeWat with removable/moving parts and appears to be well done. A few additional photos...thanks again!
