All of the above.....and.....

Because I (insert expletive) can.

Because I (insert expletive) want to.

The 1921 is the oldest gun I own. To hold it is entrancing, just imagining what a piece of firearms history it is....and, it's a Colt to boot.

The M1A1 leaves me with the same, if not more patriotic, feeling. I think back to what balls it took to jump out of a plane in the dark or to storm the beach at Normandy or sit in an icy cold hole in the ground in the Ardennes or somewhere in Korea with one or to be in the jungles of Vietnam with one (our local State Attorney was military intelligence and he carried one there on occasion).

Hope I can pass them on to my boys one day and that they can have their sons know what it is to own one of these.

Its a piece of history, Its fun to shoot and I love the reaction on peoples faces when I tell them I collect Thompson Submachineguns. The investment part is just what I tell my wife to justify the expenditures.

I voted other simply because it really is all of the above...great fun to shoot, historical value (Savage M1), investment (it is now worth at least twice as much as I paid for it 3 years ago..got a buddy deal on it so I had collateral in it when as soon as I paid for it).

When I bought my C&R M1 Savage back in 1992 it was strickly for WWII reenacting, but now it's also an investment (a useable one), a link with history, and something I can pass down to my son (he's only 7, but already he wants to fire it!).

I just wish I had bought more when I had a chance!

I own a Thompson because it is fun to shoot and it is an investment.

My only Thompson is a W.H. M1 SMG so it has no historic value (other than pre 86 transferable) but it is a joy to shoot.

I would love to own a 1921 or 1928 http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/smile.gif

Becouse the whining liberal scum don't want me to and go spastic when they see it. I was a blackpowder nut with only 2 cartage guns to my name before 1993, then I have walked threw the AK's, FN-Fal's, uzi's, mac's, and everything else i could afford and some I couldn't.

Why becouse like any Red Blooded American it's my God Given, Constatutionaly protected right. Just like my right to free speach where I can call anyone stupid or ignorant. I usally have the manors not to unless they slander me first; forgive me I can't find the full quote:

I don't agree with what you say, but I suport to the death your right to say it.

Now if only we could hide that in the Koran and convince some towel head idiots their god wants them to live in harmony with others rather than blow up things becouse someone drew a cartoon about their profit.
