yep #3105 some nice history on that one.i held that shooter in my hands around 1989,price then was around $3,500.00,they sold it off with some shotgun's and rare lever action's.at best it was 75% to 80% the lower was scrapped.anyways........i know all about that one.considering lived in the county.and went to visit it a few time's........i think ray o-herron's in danville ended up with it..........from there who know's..................$26,000.00

I knew the person who owned it up until his death about 2 months ago. Finish is thin, down to the metal on the rear of the receiver, lots of scratches on the receiver and near the end of the barrel. S/n on the lower has been punched out so as to be unreadable. Barrel was probably replaced. Wood is actually fairly good. At best it's a 75 - 80% parts gun and this guy's asking $26,000. What an absolute joke. Sad thing is, some poor unsuspecting type will probably pay top dollar for what is a shooter grade gun.

OLDFALGUYS POST

QUOTE
85% overall condition

Mismatched upper and lower.

All original colt internals, wood appears all original.

Early four digit gun with square cocking slot.

Barrel was replaced at some time as the alignment mark is slightly off, barrel appears to be original Colt as well though.

Gun was manufactured on 7/23/21 and was originally sold by Colt to the Will County Sheriffs department in Joliet Illinois (Per Tracie Hill's book).

Have lots of pictures.

$26,000.00

Currently on a form four.

Thanks,

HG

a parts gun. Barrel appears to have been replaced. S/N on lower has been punched out so as to be unreadable, so lower is most likely a replacement. Finish is very worn, and is actually missing on rear of the receiver, many deep scratches on the receiver and near the muzzle. Wood is good and interals are correct though. It does have some history and is an early gun. But at this point in it's life, it's a 75 -80% shooter at best. Not trying to flame. I saw this gun about 10 days ago, so I'm just giving my version of the description.

Then a 2nd guy chimes in to say
Wrong way to do it. Buddy will delete the whole post....

Just what was the guy supposed to do if he saw something be mis described in his opinion- Seems to have been described pretty well to me. I don't know nothing but this did seem steep for this Colt. We have talked about greed and NFA price acceleration but to me the guys with the big dinero aren't going to want to buy anything resembling a "junky" gun even if it does say Colt on the receiver- They didn't get wealthy doing that with other "investments"- I'm probably worng and it will sell in a week for 20K+

I was the second guy btw http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/wink.gif If everyone on Sturm posted an "opinion" after every gun listed, you wouldn't be able to see whats for sale, all you would be doing is reading some jacklegs opinion of someones gun.

There a place for that kind of garbage.... it here....wink..... http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/laugh.gif

John,

Your absolutely right what would happen and that is not normally the place for it, discussion within a for sale forum. But can you imagine someone posting a gun for sale that was totally mis described, another fella knowing it was and doing nothin? I realize there is not much "my brother's keeper" attitude anymore in this sorry worldA whole lot of folks could react to the ad without ever coming here or to even the discussion forums right there on Sturm or subguns- It could easily be missed even if it were posted there. Kinda a Catch -22 .

what a crapstorm on that 21a colt..........if the guy restored it to new,and asked $26,000.00 i guess that would be okay right>>wink!!

I dont like and and have NEVER liked the whole "percentage" game when describing a gun.

There is 100% NIB never been touched, never been fired, never even been kissed, total virgin gun. Then you have a 0% gun which is scrap metal. Everything inbetween is the gray area and is subject to interpretation by the parties.

I would hope that before someone spent $26000 on a gun they might go look at it first to see if its indeed as described.

There are idiots in the world, just look around tommorow at work.

Do you think you can still buy a decent Colt for $26K?

Sgt.

I f one can't get one for 26K in primo condition then I think I wouldn't go for it, others may have different standards. In that price pbracket there are a lot of guns, just as speciual (don't hang me guys) then there is the next level from MG 42's on up to Stoner 63's.. If I could find a real nice Savage for 19K or a Colt for 23K I would go for it but that is it, I have one Thompson already so no need.

This is what happens when two people start slingin' mud. They both come out lookin' dirty.

I was thinking that the guy who sold it should be happy. He got his price, correct? On the other hand, I guess he would be unhappy just because of all the bad feelings exchanged.

Why isn't the guy who sold it happy?

The guy who sold it got uptight about the criticism of the quality of the 21,as well as the questionable price...and posted his displeasure... http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/wink.gif
