Colt 1921 Repro Thompson Parts

Recommended Posts

Hello this is my first post as probably the youngest Thompson enthusiast alive my dream since I probably will never to be able to afford an original one even if the law changes or not, is to have a colt Thompson and I'm surprisingly starting now with what money I have, and I'm looking for parts. On SARCO inc I'm saving up for that colt Thompson bolt which is cheaper than I thought so after that I'm going to look for more. I know I can't buy a full receiver do to piety laws but I may get a cut one so who knows maybe in welding class once I can weld it back together. So in cousin does anyone know some nice body/frame parts i can get for it and also if it's wooden parts hopefully it's a,erican walnut like the originals.

Thanks,

Luke

Hi Luke,

Always nice to hear from a new Thompson enthusiast.

Here is my suggestions.

First forget about welding receiver parts back together. Its no fun being a Thompson enthusiast in the federal pen.

Tell us a little more about your self.

Where do you live? If you live close to a club that shoots full auto guns, perhaps someone would let you shoot a real TSMG.

If you are under 18 would your parents allow you to have a Kahr semi-auto Thompson. This would be a nice option while waiting for your 21st birthday.

And all the while keep reading every post on this site to gain valuable knowledge.

Best of luck.

Jim C

I live in Minnesota and I'm 14 I forgot because of my memory problems, when I'm older I want to manufacture/work on firearms but I want to have more freedom regarding NFA like guns and guns in general. That's when I got into gun politics so that's how I know a ton about gun laws and stuff. As you can see my favorite gun of all is the Colt 1921A Thompson and I love the drum mags especially 100 round original drums. So ya that's my all about me also my parents aren't really anti gun but they don't really like my "extreme" views and they probably think I'm evil or something so sadly I'm not gonna get any guns like that. My main goal is to get the word out and to educate people on guns and their history's like the best gun ever (Thompson) so we can get rights back so we all can get some good ol thompsons back. So yah if anyone has any cool parts for sale let me know thanks :)

thompsonteenager,

Welcome to the Thompson forum. May I suggest instead of spending money on Thompson parts that you may never need, consider a membership in The American Thompson Association. $40 a year will get you 4 newsletters and an invitation for you and your parents to a Thompson Show & Shoot in Ohio next summer. The membership would make a great gift to put on your Christmas list. Send me a PM (Private Message) with your name and mailing address and I will have a complimentary newsletter sent to you. See the link, below:

May I also suggest you ask for a copy of American Thunder III by Frank Iannamico for Christmas. It will be a wealth of information for your new hobby and is available at a great price. I wish a book like this would have been available when I was 14. See the link, below:

At your age, books will serve you much better than Thompson parts. An American Thompson Association membership and American Thunder III will be a great start!

If you say you will never own one, then you never will. Say you will own one, and work hard. If you do well enough, you may very well be able to buy 1 one day. Plenty of people out there could buy 10 of them from just a week of pay.......or less.

Im only 32, and I sound old talking like this, but trust me.....the sky is the limit when you are only 14 years old and have goals.

I will tell you from my personal experience, Being young and owning a Colt 1921A is absolutely epic! You can do it!!!

Well thanks boys I will check it out. I also wanted to add, that my past family has a great and giant moonshining history and they were the ones that invented Minnesota 13 Whiskey (I think that's what it's called) and who knows maybe I could find an old gun.

Then I realized there's a good possibility if that ever happens (hopefully I pray) what do it do with it cause I don't want to cut up the reiciver and stuff don't I fill out a form 10 or something.

Also ThompsonSMG.com Doug Richardson's site isn't working does anyone know why?

My great grandfather had a still and (I've been told) made a bit in the 30's... up near the little town of Sunrise.

I'm north of St. Paul a few miles. One of my great uncles had a brand new Chevrolet stolen in Minneapolis by a bank robber named John Dillinger (yup...that same guy!!) although the police recovered it in good shape later, so all he lost was a couple gallons of gas....but got a cool story for that!

Cool I'm in Minnesota to I'm in YIG and I'm trying to get an FFA style gun law across so we could get full autos in our state. Maybe a real representative will see it and we can get it through!

MN is open to C&R guns and therefore nearly all models of Thompsons.

If you want to change laws that is a noble goal for sure. Take time to actually go to your legislative assembly when in session and follow some bills. Learn how this works by sitting inside. I have been in NCGA since 1995 won some lost some. Your easy route is to use whatever you can to get done so you can get a TSMG. Get involved with the strongest gun rights group in your state and be active for your efforts will be worthwhile.
