Mystery Magazine and ?

Can you measure the cartridge max length and width?

It might help us figure out the cartridge and work back to the gun

The other part looks like it might be part of a traverse mechanism

I may have the answer:

Swiss Fürrer IMG25

I'm not questioning your expertise, I've never seen either of these mags in the flesh and I'm sure you have. They are very similar in shape but none of the images that I can find for the Saloronta show the full length witness slot that this magazine has. Every image of the Fürrer shows the slot. Is the presence or absence of the slot indicative?

Thanks for the replies. 7.62 ammo is very tight, and the rim gets in the way. 8mm and .06 is too long, .308 fits but is a bit short. will try other rounds and see which seems to match up. Will try the other piece on my MG34 tripod and see if it makes sense.

Yes, I didn't look as closely at the pic as needed, and when I looked more closely at the pic of the mag again, I realized it had some details that are different than the LS26. First glance it looked like the LS. I'm used to seeing the LS mags pictured with a question about what it is.

I have a tripod and some mags for the Swiss gun but they are not readily accessible for a comparison.

Unusual mags. FWIW

I tried 7.5 and 6.5 swiss in the mag. Both fit, but the 6.5 seems a better fit. Also, the catch on the rear of the mag is unusual, shaped like an wide hourglass. There are no markings on the outside. I will look inside tonight.

Will post another pic later. BP

Hi BP,

as mentioned in the post above, caliber is 7.5x55, GP11 (Gewehrpatrone 11).

It's a Adof Furrer system, very similar to a Luger. For me as a Swiss guy very interesting item, I have almost all of the Furrer guns in my collection. Furrer worked for the "Eidgenössische Waffenfabrik" for many years.

Things are still pretty relaxed here as a collector, it's still easy to get full auto guns. To shoot them is more and more complicated in the last years since you have to get a special license every time and it's hard to find a shooting range wich permits use of automatic guns. So it's at least five years ago since I fired my machine guns last time...
