"The St. Valentines Day Massacre"

Recommended Posts

Did anybody catch "The St. Valentines Day Massacre" on TV last night, the old one with Jason Robards as Scarface and George Siegel? I was impressed how accurate the movie portrayed the characters, but noticed that in all the scenes using a Tommy gun they used 21s or 28s with vertical fore grips, but at the massacre they had horizontal grips? Was this accurate? I have the Tommy gun sent to Capone as a memento from his "Crew", not really just kidding, but I did make mine as a gift for this occasion. If anything, it'll really mess with my great grandkids when they get the gun and didn't know about my twisted sense of humor. Sick, yeah, but it gets a laugh when I show it.

I remember when we shot those a few years ago in Ohio. The one with the drum had the drum on it when it was used and the 20 round stick mag was on the other. First time ballistic testing used on firearms.

Perhaps the reason there were so many horizontal grips seen in "The Saint Valentines Day Massacre" is because there were several scenes in which they pulled them out of violin cases. And as so many of us have discovered they don't fit with the vertical grip.

Here's the full-size image...looks like at least 4 50 round drums and 3 100 round drums.
